Nonlinear optical properties of semiconductor heterostructures
Yıldırım, Hasan; Tomak, Mehmet; Department of Physics (2006)
The nonlinear optical properties of semiconductor heterostructures, such as GaAsAl/GaAs alloys, are studied with analytic and numerical methods on the basis of quantum mechanics. Particularly, second and third-order nonlinear optical properties of quantum wells described by the various types of confining potentials are considered within the density matrix formalism. We consider a Pöschl-Teller type potential which has been rarely considered in this area. It has a tunable asymmetry parameter, making it a goo...

Properties of charmoniumlike states
Özşahin, Hikmet; Alıyev, Tahmasıb; Department of Physics (2015)
In this work, hadronic properties of exotic meson candidate Y (3940) and its orthogonal state are studied. These meson states are considered as a mixture of charmonium ( c0) and meson molecule. The interpolating quark currents for c0 and D D are used to construct the correlation function. QCD sum rules approach for two-point function is then used to derive OPE and phenomenological representation of the correlation function of these mesons. Next, these two representations are connected by the analytical co...
Use of Seydisehir alumina as a support for Co oxidation catalysts
Mbaraka, I; Üner, Deniz (2003-05-01)
An Al2O3 sample obtained from Seydisehir Eti Aluminyum A.S was treated and characterized for its potential use as a catalyst support. Atomic absorption spectroscopy and flame photometry characterization revealed the presence of 95.52% Al2O3 , 4.44% Na2O, and 0.043% Fe2O3 in the original sample. Both gamma-Al2O3 and alpha-Al2O3 phases were identified in the crystalline structure by X-ray diffraction analysis. However, alpha-Al2O3 was found to be the phase in abundance. The BET surface area of the original sa...
