Characterization of the Antalya (Turkey) tufa deposits
Dipova, Nihat; Doyuran, Vedat (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2006-12-01)
Carbonate rocks in Antalya (Turkey) which have previously been called travertine should, because of their biogenic origin and deposition in a cool-water regime, be termed tufa. Tufas in Antalya are the products of physico-chemical and biogenic precipitation. In the biogenic process, precipitation was caused by decreasing partial pressure of CO, via photosynthesis of algae or bacteria. Following precipitation, the tufas under-went meteoric-vadose cementation and diagenesis. the Antalya tufa basin consists of...
Geological and Geochemical Evolution of the Quaternary Suphan Stratovolcano, Eastern Anatolia, Turkey: Evidence for the Lithosphere-Asthenosphere Interaction in Post-Collisional Volcanism
Özdemir, Yavuz; Güleç, Nilgün Türkan (Oxford University Press (OUP), 2014-01-01)
The Suphan stratovolcano is one of the major Quaternary eruption centers of post-collisional volcanism in eastern Anatolia, located in the zone of convergence between the Arabian and the Anatolian plates. We document the geological and geochemical evolution of Suphan in terms of volcanostratigraphy, geochronology (Ar-40-Ar-39), isotope composition (Sr, Nd, Pb) and bulk-rock geochemistry. Our new Ar-40-Ar-39 data, along with previously published K/Ar ages, indicate an age of 0 center dot 76-0 center dot 06 M...
Reliability of Dragline’s Subsystems
Gölbaşı, Onur; Demirel, Nuray (null; 2013-04-19)
Systems are functional mechanisms, intending to perform a specific task in a defined time period. During the operations of systems, it is encountered with the imperative shutdowns due to external and internal considerations. Retrospective data covering the causes of the shutdowns and their durations can help to predict the time-dependent reliability amounts of the system, detect the critical parts, and improve the maintenance and repair plans. Reliability analyses, especially common at the industries in nee...
Geochemistry of thermal waters and its relation to the volcanism in the Kizilcahamam (Ankara) area, Turkey
Güleç, Nilgün Türkan (Elsevier BV, 1994-01-01)
Thermal waters issuing through the Tertiary aged volcanics in the Kizilcahamam (Ankara) area are all alkali-bicarbonate waters with temperatures ranging from 28°C to 86°C. The waters from the town center (MTA-1 and KHD-1 drilling wells, Big Bath and Small Bath) have the highest temperature and an intermediate TDS content, in comparison to the waters sampled from the localities outside the town center (Mineral Water Spring and Sey Bath). The Mineral Water Spring is characterized by the lowest temperature and...
Mineralogy, chemistry and potential utilization of clays from coal deposits in the Kutahya province, Western Turkey
Tuerkmenoglu, Asuman Guenal; Yavuz-Isik, Nurdan (Elsevier BV, 2008-12-01)
Kutahya graben is one of the largest E-W trending grabens of Western Turkey consisting of Tavsanli and Seyitomer sub-basins filled with Neogene continental deposits. These deposits contain economic lignite seams and the clay samples investigated in this study are closely related to the commercial lignite deposits since they occur underlying or overlying the major coal seams and also intercalated with them.
