Mechanical properties of carbon fiber reinforced epoxy polyurethane interpenetrating polymer network composites

Mechanical properties of unsaturated polyester/montmorillonite composites
Inceoglu, AB; Yılmazer, Ülkü (2001-11-29)
Nanocomposites composed of unsaturated polyester matrix and organically modified clay filler were prepared. After the synthesis, XRD patterns showed that the interlayer spacing expanded from 1.25 nm to 4.5 nm. The mechanical properties of the nanocomposites were determined and it was found that adding only 3 w/w % organically modified clay improved the flexural modulus of unsaturated polyester by 35%. From DSC diagrams, it was found that T-g values of the nanocomposites also increased with the clay content....
MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF REPAIRED CARBON FIBER REINFORCED POLYMER COMPOSITES
Sonat, Emine Evren; Özerinç, Sezer; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2021-12-10)
Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites are increasingly used in the aerospace industry due to their high specific strength compared to conventional metallic materials. However, a significant shortcoming of these composites is their increased susceptibility to damage. Structural repair is a common method to restore the load-carrying capacity of a damaged part when the damage size exceeds the pre-defined tolerances. Scarf and stepped bonded repair methods are the primary choice for cases that requi...
Mechanical properties of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete
Yurtseven, A. E.; Yaman, İsmail Özgür; Tokyay, Mustafa (2006-07-07)
Fiber reinforcement is commonly used to provide toughness and ductility to brittle cementitious matrices. Reinforcement of concrete with a single type of fiber may improve the desired properties to a limited level. A composite can be termed as hybrid, if two or more types of fibers are rationally combined to produce a composite that derives benefits from each of the individual fibers and exhibits a synergetic response. This study aims to characterize and quantify the mechanical properties of hybrid fiber re...
