A methodology for designing tonpilz-type transducers
Çepni, Kerim; Baker, Derek Keıth; Çalışkan, Mehmet; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2011)
Tonpilz-type transducers are the most commonly used projectors in underwater acoustic applications. However, no complete design approach is available in the literature for such transducers. The present study aims to fill this gap in the literature by providing a systematic design approach for the Tonpilz-type transducers. The proposed methodology involves the use of different analytical models and a finite element model of such transducers. Each model provides a different level of accuracy that is tightly c...

A method to synchronize the tandem dragline systems
Erdem, B; Celebi, N (1999-04-01)
An important problem associated with tandem dragline systems is that of matching the productive capability of individual draglines in the combination. In this paper, a dependence mechanism among draglines in a tandem system is described, and possible consequential problems in a poorly-matched system are defined. The rate of linear advance and the cost of stripping are determined as two major indications for an efficient operation. The proposed decision criteria and the underlying mechanism to select a synch...
A novel two-parameter modulation and neutral point potential control method for the three-level neutral point clamped inverter
Uestuentepe, Buelent; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2007-05-05)
In this work, the Neutral Point Potential (NPP) drift/fluctuation of the three-level Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) inverter is analyzed and a novel control algorithm, the two-parameter PWM method is proposed to confine the NPP variation to a very small range. The two-parameter PWM method provides superior NPP control performance even with small DC bus capacitors. The method is based on PWM pulse pattern modification and requires no additional hardware. Detailed analytical models of the neutral point current a...
