A model for evaporative consumption of lubricating oil in reciprocating engines
Wahiduzzaman, Syed; Keribar, Rifat; Dursunkaya, Zafer; Kelley, Frank A. (1992-01-01)
A model for oil consumption due to in-cylinder evaporation of oil in reciprocating engines, has been developed. The model is based on conservation of mass and energy on the surface of the oil film left on the cylinder by a piston ring pack, at the oil/gas interface, and also conservation of energy within the oil film and cylinder/coolant interface. The model is sensitive to in-cylinder conditions and is part of an integrated model of ring pack performance, which provides the geometry of the oil film left by...

A MODEL FOR PASTEURIZATION WITH MICROWAVES IN A TUBULAR FLOW REACTOR
OZILGEN, S; OZILGEN, M (Elsevier BV, 1991-05-01)
Thermal death kinetics of Escherichia coli with microwaves were studied by using a tubular flow reactor with different diameters, lengths, and flow rates. Mathematical models were presented for temperature profile development and death of the microorganisms along the reactor. A first-order kinetic expression in biomass concentration simulated the death phenomena. Temperature effects on the death rate constant were expressed with an Arrhenius expression. Numerical values of the constants of this expressi...
A SIMPLIFIED MODEL FOR VIBRATING MASS CONTROL MOMENT GYROSCOPE
Akbulut, Burak; Arberkli, Ferhat; Azgın, Kıvanç; Tekinalp, Ozan (2017-02-09)
A novel satellite attitude actuator based on vibrating masses was previously proposed. Its governing equations were obtained and simulated. In this study, the resulting mathematical model is validated via energy as well as the conservation of angular momentum methods. Additionally, the mathematical model for the complete system was too complicated for analysis. In this work, a representative simplified set of equations describing vibrating mass control moment gyroscope (vCMG) dynamics in high fidelity are a...
