THERMODYNAMICS AND STRUCTURE OF LIQUID BINARY-ALLOYS CALCULATED USING AN ANALYTIC PAIR POTENTIAL
DALGIC, SS; DALGIC, S; DERELI, G; Tomak, Mehmet (1994-07-01)
Analytic pair potentials proposed by Pettifor and Ward are developed using the Heine-Abarenkov pseudopotential for Li-Na, Na-K, and Na-Cs liquid binary alloys. The corresponding partial structure factors are calculated using the random-phase approximation. The calculated thermodynamic and structural properties using this real-space formalism are in good agreement with experiments.
Development and investigation of etoposide resistance in MCF-7 Breast cancer cell line
Kaplan, Esra; Gündüz, Ufuk; Department of Biology (2010)
Failure of chemotherapy in cancer patients because of development of drug resistance is a major problem. Alterations of DNA repair mechanisms and drug targets are among the important resistance mechanisms which are developed against topoisomerase II inhibitors etoposide and doxorubicin. Modifications in the expression levels of mismatch repair (MMR) genes due to resistance to topoisomerase II inhibitors are involved in breast cancer. In this study, etoposide resistant sublines were developed from MCF7 breas...
Analysis of forging for three different alloy steels
Civelekoğlu, Barış; Darendeliler, Haluk; Gökler, Mustafa İlhan; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2003)
Forging is a manufacturing process which is preferred among the others in that, the final product shows more enhanced properties. The properties of the final product are directly related with the material used in the forging process. Main parameters such as forging temperature, number of stages, preform design, dimensions of the billet, etc. may be affected by the forging material. Alloys are one of the main areas of interest in the forging industry. The use of alloy steels may bring superior properties, es...
Analysis of training sample selection strategies for regression-based quantitative landslide susceptibility mapping methods
ERENER, ARZU; Sivas, A. Abdullah; Kestel, Sevtap Ayşe; Duzgun, H. Sebnem (2017-07-01)
All of the quantitative landslide susceptibility mapping (QLSM) methods requires two basic data types, namely, landslide inventory and factors that influence landslide occurrence (landslide influencing factors, LIF). Depending on type of landslides, nature of triggers and LIF, accuracy of the QLSM methods differs. Moreover, how to balance the number of 0 (nonoccurrence) and 1 (occurrence) in the training set obtained from the landslide inventory and how to select which one of the 1's and 0's to be included ...
On Equivalence Relationships Between Classification and Ranking Algorithms
Ertekin Bolelli, Şeyda (2011-10-01)
We demonstrate that there are machine learning algorithms that can achieve success for two separate tasks simultaneously, namely the tasks of classification and bipartite ranking. This means that advantages gained from solving one task can be carried over to the other task, such as the ability to obtain conditional density estimates, and an order-of-magnitude reduction in computational time for training the algorithm. It also means that some algorithms are robust to the choice of evaluation metric used; the...
