Synthesis and characterization of thiophene ended poly-e-caprolactone (PCL) and oxalic acid dithiophen-3-yl methyl ester (ODME) and their copolymers with both pyrrole and thiophene were achieved. Chemical structure of the precursor polymer and monomer were investigated Redox behavior of polymer and monomers were determined by Cyclic Voltammetry (CV). Structural characterization of samples were carried out by 1H, 13C Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Conductivities of the films were measured by using four probe technique. Thermal analyses of conducting copolymers were investigated via Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermal Gravimetry Analysis (TGA). The morphologies of the copolymer films were examined by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Electrochromic and spectroelectrochemical behavior of the copolymers were investigated, and their ability of employment in device construction has been examined.

Synthesis of conducting polymers of terepthalic acid bis-(2-thiophen-3-yl-ethyl)ester and investigation of their electrochromic properties
Coşkun, Yelda; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Department of Chemistry (2004)
Terepthalic acid bis-(2-thiophen-3-yl-ethyl)ester (TATE) was synthesized through the reaction of 2-thiophen-3-yl-ethanol and terepthaloyl chloride. Electrochemical behavior of the TATE and TATE in the presence of thiophene were studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV). The chemical structure of monomer is characterized via Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Homopolymer of TATE was synthesized by galvanostatic and potentiostatic methods, and copolymeri...
Synthesis, characterization and optoelectrochemical properties of poly(1,6-bis(2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)hexane) and its copolymer with EDOT
Ak, Metin; Sahmetlioglu, Ertugrul; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2008-09-01)
A new polythiophene derivative was synthesized by electrochemical oxidative polymerization of 1,6-bis(2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)hexane (TPH). The structure of the monomer was elucidated by H-1, C-13, MR and mass analyses. The polymer P(TPH) and its copolymer with 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (P(TPH-co-EDOT)) were synthesized via potentiostatic electrochemical polymerization. Characterizations of the resulting polymers were performed by cyclic voltammetry (CV), FTIR, UV-vis spectroscopies; and condu...
Synthesis and spectroelectrochemical characterization of multi-colored novel poly(3,6-dithienylcarbazole) derivatives containing azobenzene and coumarin chromophore units
Yigit, Deniz; Hacioglu, Serife O.; GÜLLÜ, Mustafa; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2016-04-01)
Azobenzene and coumarin units bearing four novel 3,6-linked thiophene-carbazole-thiophene type electroactive monomers were synthesized in order to observe the effects of strong chromophore units on the electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical behaviors of resulting pi-conjugated conducting polymers (PTCbzAz, PECbzAz, PTCbzCo and PECbzCo). Electronic and optoelectronic properties of all polymers were investigated by cyclic voltammetry and in situ spectroelectrochemical studies, and their oxidation potentia...
Synthesis and electrochromic properties of conducting copolymers of dioxocino- and dithiocino-quinoxalines with bithiophene
Beyazyidirim, S; Camurlu, P; Yilmaz, D; Gullu, M; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2006-02-15)
Two new monomers, 2-benzyl-5,12-dihydro-2H-pyrrolo[3',4':2,3][1,4]dioxocino[6,7-b]quinoxaline (DPOQ) and 5,12-dihydrothieno[3',4':2,3][1,4]dithiocino[6,7-b]quinoxaline (DTTQ), were synthesized. The chemical structures of the monomers were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (H-1 NMR), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and mass spectra. Copolymer of DPOQ with bithiophene (BT) was synthesized via potentiostatic electrochemical polymerization in acetonitrile-tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate solvent...
Synthesis and polymerization of 2-and 3-substituted thiophene derivatives linked by polyether bridges
Tirkeş, Süha; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (Elsevier BV, 2004-11-15)
New compounds consisting of 2- and 3-thienyl units linked by polyether bridges have been synthesized and their electrochemical polymerization was performed via constant potential electrolysis (CPE) in an electrolytic solution containing 0.1 M tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate (TBAPF(6)) dissolved in CH3CN. 2-Thienyl monomers (I and II), but not 3-thienyl monomers (III and IV), were also polymerized via chemical oxidation, which yielded broken pi-conjugated polymer products. The polymers were characteri...
