Removal of phenolic compounds from rubber-textile wastewaters by physico-chemical methods
Ozbelge, TA; Ozbelge, OH; Baskaya, SZ (Elsevier BV, 2002-09-01)
Removal of phenolic compounds from rubber-textile wastewaters (RTWWs) by physico-chemical process was investigated by using four different types of coagulants (Al-2(SO4)(3), Fe-2(SO4)(3), FeSO4, FeCl3) with or without lime (Ca(OH)(2)) addition, in jar-test experiments. The RTWWs of the present tire-cord fabric plant may contain seven different types of dipping solutions (DSs), which provide an adhesive property to the fabric. The optimum results were obtained by using 50% FeCl3 solution and lime at various ...

Removal of microplastics from wastewater through electrocoagulation-electroflotation and membrane filtration processes
AKARSU, CEYHUN; KUMBUR, HALİL; Kıdeyş, Ahmet Erkan (2021-09-01)
Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are one of the major vectors of microplastics (MPs) pollution for the recipient water bodies. Therefore, the recovery of MPs from WWTPs is extremely important for decreasing their accumulation and impact in aquatic systems. In this present study, the electrocoagulation-electroflotation (EC/En and membrane filtration processes were investigated in removing MPs from wastewaters. The effectiveness of different electrode combinations (Fe-Al and Al-Fe), current density (10-20 ...
Removal of chloridazon pesticide from waters by Fenton and photo-Fenton processes
Ulu, Hatice Bike; DEĞERMENCİ, NEJDET; Dilek, Filiz Bengü (2020-08-01)
Chloridazon (CLZ), also named as Pyrazon and classified as organochlorine pesticides, is widely used during sugar beets cultivation. CLZ being a pesticide with high solubility in water is likely to end up in surface and groundwater bodies because of its high mobility in soil. Due to its toxic properties, it may cause serious problems in human health and ecological cycle. In the present study, the removal of CLZ pesticide by Fenton and photo-Fenton processes was investigated. The effects of parameters such a...
