Hydrogeochemical investigation of groundwater characteristics in Alpu coal field, Eskisehir-Turkey
Tural, Ceren Yazıgülü; Çamur, Mehmet Zeki; Department of Geological Engineering (2021-6)
Hydrogeochemical characteristics and quality of groundwater resources in Alpu Coal field to the north of Porsuk Creek are investigated. EC, pH, DO and ORP average value ranges are determined as 438-1227 μS/cm, 7.43-8.69, 3.29-6.05 mg/l and 106-180 mv, respectively in spring waters and as 452-30233 μS/cm, 7.46-8.48, 0.6-6.0 mg/l ve 198- -183 mv, respectively in well waters. All spring waters are in HCO3 - Mg, Mix(Ca-Mg), Ca facies. Groundwater facies, stratigraphically downward: change in the order of HCO3, ...
Hydrogeochemical evaluation of heavy metal loadings to waters and sediments by leachate: A case study from the Golbasi waste disposal site, Ankara, Turkey
Canpolat, F; Camur, MZ; Yazıcıgil, Hasan (Informa UK Limited, 2001-10-01)
At sites of groundwater contamination. predictions of contaminant behavior and evaluation of remedial strategies depend on identification and characterization of the geochemical processes affecting contaminant migration. Heavy-metal loadings to waters and sediments by leachate from the Golbasi waste disposal site in Ankara, Turkey, have been evaluated quantitatively using hydro-geochemical modeling. The groundwater of the waste disposal area. characterized by high concentrations of Ca, K, Cl, Cd, Pb, Zn, Cu...
Hydrogeochemical outline of thermal waters and geothermometry applications in Anatolia (Turkey)
Mutlu, Halim; Güleç, Nilgün Türkan (Elsevier BV, 1998-10-01)
The chemical compositions of a total of 120 thermal water samples from four different tectonically distinct regions (Central, North, East and West Anatolia) of Turkey are presented and assessed in terms of geothermal energy potential of each region through the use of chemical geothermometers. Na-Ca-HCO3, type waters are the dominant water types in all the regions except that Na-Cl type waters are typical for the coastal areas of West Anatolia and for a few inland areas of West and Central Anatolia where dee...
Hydrogeochemical Properties of Geothermal Fields at Northeastern Anatolia
Aydın, Harun; Karakuş, Hüseyin; Mutlu, Halim; Güleç, Nilgün Türkan; Hılton, Davıd (null; 2016-05-16)
In Anatolia which is one of exceptional continental regions hosting both Neogene volcanism and tectonism, the geothermal potential is quite high due to unique geological and tectonic structures. In recent years, the geothermal resources in western Anatolia, whose geothermal potential is well defined, are successfully used in a wide range of applications such as energy production, district heating, thermal tourism and greenhouse heating. However, the geothermal resources of northeastern Anatolia (NEA) have b...
Hydrogeochemical characterization and conceptual modeling of the Edremit geothermal field (NW Turkey)
Avşar, Özgür; Güleç, Nilgün Türkan; Parlaktuna, Mahmut (Elsevier BV, 2013-07-15)
The Edremit geothermal field, with 42-62 degrees C discharge temperatures, is utilized for space heating. Alternation of permeable and impermeable units created two superimposed aquifers in the area: an upper unconfined and a lower confined. Water samples from 21 (hot-cold) wells were taken in this study. 8 of these wells penetrate the deeper confined aquifer, while 13 penetrate the shallower unconfined aquifer. Geochemical analyses revealed that Na + K - SO4 (>40 degrees C), Ca - HCO3 (<30 degrees C) and C...
