Kama, Sami
In this work an analysis of the CHORUS (anti-)neutrino-nucleon scattering data taken on lead--scintillator calorimeter during the 1998 run is presented. The differential cross-sections are measured in the range of Þ0.01

High speed automatic scanning systems for emulsion analysis in the opera experiment
Altınok, Özgür; Güler, Ali Murat; Department of Physics (2011)
The aim of the OPERA experiment is to verify the neutrino oscillation, directly measuring the appearance of from an initially pure beam produced at CERN. For this purpose OPERA detector is located underground Gran Sasso Laboratory(LNGS) 730 km away from CERN. The detector structure designed to be a hybrid system consisting of emulsion targets and electronic detectors. Total area of the emulsion targets in the OPERA detector is around 110000 m2 which needs fast and reliable automatic scanning systems. For th...
The electronic band structure of III (in, al, ga)-v (n, as, sb) compounds and ternary alloys
Mohammad, Rezek Mahmoud Salim; Katırcıoğlu, Şenay; Department of Physics (2005)
In this work, the electronic band structure of III (In, Al, Ga) - V (N, As, Sb) compounds and their ternary alloys have been investigated by density functional theory (DFT) within generalized gradient approximation (GGA) and empirical tight binding (ETB) calculations, respectively. The present DFT-GGA calculations have shown direct band gap structures in zinc-blende phase for InN, InAs, InSb, GaN, and GaAs. However, indirect band gap structures have been obtained for cubic AlN, AlSb and AlAs com- pounds; he...
Analysis of the peak position and linewidth as a function of temperature for the phase transitions in LiKSO4
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2016-02-20)
Analysis of the peak position and the linewidths of various infrared modes is performed at high (300-850 K) and low (1.5-300 K) temperatures using the experimental data from the literature for LiKSO4 which exhibits a sequence of phase transitions. The temperature dependences of the frequency and the linewidth which are derived from the anharmonic self-energy are fitted to the observed peak positions and the linewidths of the S-O stretching modes (internal nu(3) modes at 1135 cm(-1) and at 1180 cm(-1)), peak...
Study of electron identification in the opera detector
Bay, M. Fatih; Güler, Ali Murat; Department of Physics (2008)
The OPERA experiment is designed to perform first direct observation of $\nu_{\tau}$ appearance in an almost pure $\nu_{\mu}$ beam. The OPERA detector is a hybrid set-up which combines a lead/emulsion target with various electronic detectors. It is located in Gran Sasso Laboratory (LNGS), 730 km away from CERN where neutrino beam is produced. A good electron identification in the ECC brick would also allow OPERA to search for $\nu_{\mu}\rightarrow\nu_{e}$ oscillations. We have studied electron identificatio...
Calculation of the Raman frequencies of the translational mode in ammonia solid II
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Elsevier BV, 2003-03-01)
We report here our calculated Raman frequencies of the translational mode as a function of temperature for the. fixed pressures of 3.65, 5.02 and 6.57 kbars in the ammonia solid II. They were calculated by means of our Gruneisen relation using the volume data from the literature for all the pressures indicated within the temperature regions close to the melting point in this system. Our calculated frequencies are in very-good agreement with those observed experimentally for this translational mode of the am...
