Fragmentation of water clusters: Molecular-dynamics simulation study
Erkoç, Şakir; Kokten, H; Guvenc, Z (2001-03-01)
The fragmentation of water clusters, [(H2O)(n): n = 2-8], have been investigated by using molecular-dynamics simulation method. In the simulations a polarizable-dissociable potential energy function for water has been used. Particular attention has been paid to investigate the effect of structural properties and cluster size of the fragmentation.
Evolution Of Rotating Low Mass Stars With Angular-Momentum Loss
KIZILOGLU, N (1991-03-01)
The evolutionary behavior of rotating low mass stars has been investigated with angular momentum loss by the magnetic stellar wind through the pre-main sequence and on the zero age main sequence phases. As the stars contract toward the zero age main sequence, angular momentum is removed from the convective envelope under the assumption that initially only the convective envelope is spun down in low mass stars. It is obtained that most of the angular momentum loss occurs prior to reaching the zero age main s...
Instability of radial oscillations of Wolf-Rayet star models
Kırbıyık, Halil (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1987)
By taking some evolutionary models of an initially 60M ⊙-star, their radial vibrational stabilities have been investigated. These models, evolving with mass loss, are in the advanced stages of their evolution, and burn He in their cores. Calculations have been performed for the first and second harmonics as well as for the fundamental mode; and some of these models were found to be vibrationally unstable in the fundamental mode.
Differentiation of domains in composite surface structures by charge-contrast X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy
Suzer, Sefik; Dana, Aykutlu; Ertaş, Gülay (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2007-01-01)
An external bias is applied to two samples containing composite surface structures, while recording an XPS spectrum. Altering the polarity of the bias affects the extent of differential charging in domains that are chemically or electronically different to create a charge contrast. By utilizing this charge contrast, we show that two distinct silicon nitride and silicon oxynitride domains are present in one of the composite samples. Similarly, we use this technique to show that titanium oxide and silicon oxi...
Evolution of satellite derived mesoscale thermal patterns in the Black Sea
Sur, HI; Ilyin, YP (1997-01-01)
Infrared image sequences covering the Black Sea are examined to investigate the evolution of mesoscale structures on the sea surface during the warm seasons of 1991-1993. Wind induced surface mixing and convective mixing are responsible for producing many features. The influence of seasonal evolution of the cold intermediate water (CIW) on the vertical and surface structures of eddies, including cold anticyclonic ones in summer, is examined. The annual variations of the short and long wave structures accomp...
