Thermal degradation of polysiloxane and polyetherester containing benzoxazine moieties in the main chain
Bagherifam, Shahla; Kışkan, Barış; Aydogan, Binnur; Yagci, Yusuf; Hacaloğlu, Jale (2011-01-01)
In this study investigation of thermal characteristics of polysiloxane and polyetherester containing benzoxazine moieties in the main chain was performed via pyrolysis mass spectrometry. Pyrolysis mass spectrometry analyses revealed that the thermal stability and the extent of cross-linking enhanced when the benzoxazine moieties were separated by thermally more stable units such as siloxanes. However, when the siloxane chain units were long, possibility of polybenzoxazine growth decreased significantly and ...
Thermal degradation characteristics of polysulfones with benzoxazine end groups
Orhan, Tugba; Ates, Sahin; Hacaloğlu, Jale; Yagci, Yusuf (2012-01-01)
Thermal degradation behaviors of phenol and benzoxazine end-capped polysulfone macromonomers (PSU-OH and PSU-P-a) and pre-cured PSU-P-a in the absence and presence of aniline and phenol based benzoxazine monomer (P-a) were investigated via pyrolysis mass spectrometry. A significant increase in thermal stability of both polysulfone and polybenzoxazine chains upon polymerization of benzoxazine end groups was determined compared to phenol-ended polysulfones and aniline based monofunctional polybenzoxazine. The...
Thermal degradation of polylactide/aluminium diethylphosphinate
Kaya, Hatice; Hacaloğlu, Jale (2014-11-01)
Direct pyrolysis mass spectrometry analyses of polylactide, PLA, reveal two dominating decomposition pathways; chain homolysis and trans-esterification reactions under the experimental conditions yielding mainly low mass fragments and cyclic oligomers. The main pyrolysis products of aluminium diethylphosphinate, AlPi, are determined to be the dimeric four coordinate compounds possessing Al-O-P linkages. Thermal stability of polylactide in the presence of AlPi is decreased due to the attack of phosphinates g...
Thermal degradation of poly(allyl methacrylate) by mass spectroscopy and TGA
Vardareli, Tugba Kantav; Keskin, Selda; Usanmaz, Ali (Informa UK Limited, 2006-10-01)
Allyl methacrylate, AMA was polymerized in CCl4 solution by alpha,alpha'-azoisobutyronitrile at 50 degrees C. The thermal degradation mechanism of PAMA was characterized by MS, TGA-FT-IR and FT-IR-ATR methods. The mass spectrum and TGA thermogram showed two stage degradation. The first stage of degradation was mostly linkage type degradation for the fragmentation of pendant allyl groups at 225 - 350 degrees C. In the second stage, at 395 - 515 degrees C, the degradation is random scission and depolymerizati...
Thermal degradation of poly(p-phenylene-graft-ε-caprolactone) copolymer
Nur, Yusuf; Yurteri, Seda; Cianga, Ioan; Yagci, Yusuf; Hacaloğlu, Jale (2007-01-01)
The thermal degradation of poly (p-phenylene-graft-epsilon-caprolactone) (PPP), synthesized by Suzuki polycondensation of poly(E-caprolactone) (PCL) with a central 2,5-dibromo-1,4-benzene on the chain with 1,4-phenylene-diboronic acid, has been studied via direct pyrolysis mass spectrometry. The thermal degradation occurred mainly in two steps. In the first step, decomposition of PCL chains occurred. A slight increase in thermal stability of PCL chains was noted. In the second stage of pyrolysis, the decomp...
