With the increasing usage and functionality, Internet banking becomes a significant part of our lives. This study investigates Internet banking in Turkey as a case of financial innovation. Using Internet usage share from the payment systems of the Central Bank of The Republic of Turkey as an indicator of adoption of Internet banking, data set for 16 banks for 21 quarters are investigated with a panel regression. Some of the common Schumpeterian arguments are elaborated and concluded that Internet banking adoption in Turkey is positively related with the sizes’ of the banks while the relationship between banks’ sizes and adoptions is inverse U shaped. Moreover, the share of the households that use Internet also affects Internet banking adoption positively and Internet banking is used mainly as an alternative to the bank branches. Lastly, our analysis indicates that 2008 financial crisis influenced the usage of Internet banking in Turkey as the volumes of Internet banking operations in 2008 is the lowest of 2006-2012 period.

Explainable Security in SDN-Based IoT Networks
Sarica, Alper Kaan; Angın, Pelin (2020-12-01)
The significant advances in wireless networks in the past decade have made a variety of Internet of Things (IoT) use cases possible, greatly facilitating many operations in our daily lives. IoT is only expected to grow with 5G and beyond networks, which will primarily rely on software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization for achieving the promised quality of service. The prevalence of IoT and the large attack surface that it has created calls for SDN-based intelligent security solut...
Online embedding and clustering of evolving data streams
Zubaroglu, Alaettin; Atalay, Mehmet Volkan (2022-07-01)
Number of connected devices is steadily increasing and this trend is expected to continue in the near future. Connected devices continuously generate data streams and the data streams may often be high dimensional and contain concept drift. Clustering is one of the most suitable methods for real-time data stream processing, since clustering can be applied with less prior information about the data. Also, data embedding makes the visualization of high dimensional data possible and may simplify clustering pro...

An empirical study on early warning systems for banking sector
Boyraz, Mustafa Fatih; Gaygısız Lajunen, Esma; Department of Economics (2012)
Early Warning Systems (EWSs) for banking sectors are used to measure occurrence risks of banking crises, generally observed with a rundown of bank deposits and widespread failures of financial institutions. In countries with a small number of banks, for example Turkey with 48 banks (BDDK, 2011), every bank may be considered to have a systematic importance since the failure of any individual bank may carry a potential threat to lead to a banking crisis. Taking into account this fact the present study focuses...
