A mechanistic study of the anti-angiogenic properties of the lipid-metabolizing enzyme 15-lipoxygenase-1 in different cancer cell models

A study of passerine migration at METU (Ankara, Central Turkey) based on the mist-netting method
Can, Özge Keşaplı; Keşaplı Can, Özge; Department of Biological Sciences (2004)
Turkey is on the main migratory route for many bird species although especially passerine migration is little known. The objective of this study is to document and analyze the diversity, abundances, daily and seasonal phenologies of migrating passerines at METU as well as compare seasonal phenologies with those obtained at Manyas Kuscenneti(Balikesir) and Cernek(Samsun) stations. The study covers autumn 2001, spring and autumn 2002 migration seasons. Methodology is based on the capture and ringing of passer...

A controlled study for the characterization of PM2.5 emitted during grilling ground beef meat

Experiments were conducted in an on-campus house at Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus during January 2015. Low fat ground beef meat was grilled using an electric stove with no mechanical or natural ventilation. Five PM size fractions ranging from 3.3 mu m to less than 0.43 mu m were investigated in this study. The total particle emission rate and flux values were found to be 4.49x10(1) mg min(-1) and 1.45x10(3) mg min(-1) m(-2), respectively. Total OC emission rate and flux values were...
A DFT Study on Push-Pull (Amino-Nitro) Fulminenes and Hexahelicenes
Türker, Burhan Lemi; Bayar, Caglar Celik; Balaban, Alexandru T. (Informa UK Limited, 2010-01-01)
In order to investigate the steric and electronic effects of electron-donor (amino) and -acceptor (nitro) substituents on hexahelicene and fulminene (isomeric and isoarithmic compounds), sixteen different types of terminal-amino-nitro hexahelicenes (H1-H16) and fulminenes (F1-F16) have been designed and investigated theoretically by the DFT method at B3LYP/6-31G(d) level. Besides electronic and thermodynamic properties, aromaticities (via NICS(0) calculations) have also been discussed for the above sets of ...
