RECO, a hybrid video recommendation system using user behaviours and features of videos

Bezen, Şükrü
If you are talking about video content on the internet, you have to think in big scales. That is why we need a system that handles the constant streaming of user behaviour on video content without delaying its recommendation system at the background. We approach to this problem by combining collaborative and content based recommendation algorithms on a framework which is completely scalable. In the thesis, we explain how we combine behaviours of users and features of videos. In what ways a change on user behaviours e ects the recommendation and how is meta data mapped to user behaviours for creating the recommendation.

User preference boosted content-based recommender system
Özberk Yener, Tuğçe; Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi; Department of Information Systems (2013)
In the world of information, internet becomes the most important information source. However, internet contains vast amount of information and this information is not filtered. In such an environment, the people who seek for an information is overwhelmed in the alternatives that s/he can reach via the web. Recommender systems have their real importance in this kind of situations. To overcome said overwhelming problems, recommender systems are developed to determine the people needs and to recommend suitable...
BoRGo: a book recommender for reading groups
Saçak Düzgün, Sayıl; Birtürk, Ayşe Nur; Department of Computer Engineering (2012)
With the increasing amount of data on web, people start to need tools which will help them to deal with the most significant ones among the thousands. The idea of a system which recommends items to its users emerged to fulfill this inevitable need. But most of the recommender systems make recommendations for individuals. On the other hand, some people need recommendation for items which they will use or for activities which they will attend together. Group recommenders serve for these purposes. Group recomm...
Composite Method in Real Time Video Stabilization
Bayrak, Serhat; Ulusoy, İlkay (2009-01-01)
Since digital video stabilization completely performs over the images, if requires exhaustive processing power. Therefore, it is less preferred for real-time applications. Global (background) motion estimation in floating video is the most time consuming part of digital video stabilization. In this work, the load of digital motion estimation is reduced by using mechanical motion sensors, thus, it is shown that digital video stabilization can be used for real-time applications.
Improved probabilistic matrix factorization model for sparse datasets /
Ar, Yılmaz; Taşkaya Temizel, Tuğba; Department of Information Systems (2014)
The amount of information on the World Wide Web has increased significantly owing to advancing web and information technologies. This has made it difficult for users to obtain relevant and useful information thus there is a need for information filtering. Recommender Systems (RS) have emerged as a technique to overcome the problem. Collaborative Filtering (CF) that is one of the widely used RS approaches aims to predict users’ preference concerning an item. The main idea behind CF is the users who agreed in...
CALMTV: A Cluster Based Application Layer Multicast Architecture for IPTV
Ozkardes, Merve; Schmidt, Şenan Ece (2013-12-13)
Multimedia applications over the Internet and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) gain a lot of attention. IPTV has a number of service requirements such as; high bandwidth, scalability, bounds on delay, jitter and channel zapping time. IP multicast, IP Multimedia System (IMS) Protocol and peer-to-peer (P2P) approaches are proposed for implementing IPTV. However, IP multicast requires all the routers in the core network to possess multicast capability, IMS does not easily scale and P2P cannot efficiently ut...
