The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of static stretching (SS), dynamic stretching (DS) and no stretching (NS) protocols on power, agility and flexibility in competitive wrestlers. 34 competitive male athletes were recruited for Standing Long Jump, T-Drill and Sit and Reach Test to test power, agility and flexibility of the subjects respectively. The participants performed one of the tests on each day. After the analysis of repeated measures of ANOVA, the results indicated that the measurements did not show significant power improvements after the stretching types, F (2, 66) = .376, p ˃ 0.05. However, statistically significant agility scores were found F(1.559, 51.463) = 5.88, p ˂0.05). The score were NS (M = 10.206, SD = .474), DS (M = 10.094, SD = .547) and SS (M = 10.335, SD = .585). There was also significant flexibility scores after the stretching,, F (1.83, 60.39) = 9.11, p˂0.05). The scores were NS (M = 34.36, SD = 6.26), DS (M = 34.84, SD = 6.17) and SS (M = 34.74, SD = 6.39). According to this study, dynamic stretching has a positive effect in agility and flexibility in wrestlers. Static stretching has also a meaningful effect in terms of flexibility outcomes. Coaches and athletes would consider dynamic stretching before power, agility and flexibility related exercises instead of static stretching.

Effect of different joint positions, rotator cuff muscle fatigue and experience on shoulder proprioceptive sense among male volleyball players
Kablan, Nilüfer; Korkusuz, Feza; Department of Physical Education and Sports (2004)
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different joint positions, rotator cuff muscle fatigue and experience on shoulder proprioceptive sense among male volleyball players. The participants of the study were 20 experienced (Mage= 20.7 ? 2.8) and 20 inexperienced (Mage= 17.1 ? 1.0) male volleyball players being members of first league volleyball teams. Measurements were made by Biodex System 3 pro (Biodex Medical Systems, Inc., New York, USA) and only dominant extremities were assessed. Shoulder...
Effects of swiss ball training on knee joint reposition sense, core strength and dynamic balance in sedentary collegiate students
Cuğ, Mutlu; Korkusuz, Feza; Department of Physical Education and Sports (2012)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Swiss ball training on (1) knee joint reposition sense (knee proprioception), (2) core muscle strength and (3) dynamic balance in sedentary collegiate students. In this thesis, two different participant groups and two different training methods were used. In order to evaluate the effect of Swiss ball training on knee proprioception and core strength, 3 days per week training was conducted throughout 10 weeks (Study 1). In order to evaluate the effe...

Complementary spatial and timing control in rhythmic arm movements
Nickl, Robert W.; Ankaralı, Mustafa Mert; Cowan, Noah J. (American Physiological Society, 2019-04-01)
Volitional rhythmic motor behaviors such as limb cycling and locomotion exhibit spatial and timing regularity. Such rhythmic movements are executed in the presence of exogenous visual and nonvisual cues, and previous studies have shown the pivotal role that vision plays in guiding spatial and temporal regulation. However, the influence of nonvisual information conveyed through auditory or touch sensory pathways, and its effect on control, remains poorly understood. To characterize the function of nonvisual ...
The Relationship Between Arthroplasty Surgeons' Experience Level and Optimal Cable Tensioning in the Fixation of Extended Trochanteric Osteotomy
Başarır, Kerem ; Kalem, Mahmut ; Şahin, Ercan; Özbek, Emre Anıl; Karaca, Mustafa Onur ; Kucukkarapinar, Ibrahim; Tönük, Ergin (2021-12-01)
Introduction: In this study, our aim was to examine the relationship between the arthroplasty surgeons' experience level and their aptitude to adjust the cable tension to the value recommended by the manufacturer when asked to provide fixation with cables in artificial bones that underwent extended trochanteric osteotomy (ETO). Materials and Methods: A custom-made cable tensioning device with a microvoltmeter was used to measure the tension values in Newtons (N). An ETO was performed on 4 artificial femur b...
