Synthesis of dioxin & tetra aryl pyrazine derivatives and their applications

Okyar, Burcu
Aggregation induced emission (AIE) luminogens have attracted great attention in various disciplines of science in last decades. The photophysical properties and structural design of this type of luminogens make it possible to have large variety of applications in fluorescence sensors, cell imaging, microstructures aggregate and electroluminescence devices etc. All these studies promote researchers to find alternative AIE luminogens and also different application areas of AIE luminogen systems. 2,3,5,6-tetraphenylpyrazine (TPP) has an interesting structure with its propeller shape and with its planar core. In this conformation, the planarity of each ring is preserved, and the conjugation between the rings is preserved to some extent. Inspired from TPP, in this thesis, 2,3,5,6-tetraphenyl-1,4-dioxine (TPD) was synthesized and AIE property was investigated. In the second part of the thesis, 2,5-bis(4-bromophenyl)-3,6-diphenylpyrazine (2Br-TPP) was synthesized and will be used in electrochromic devices. It will be polymerized with 3,3-bis((undecyloxy)methyl)-3,4-dihydro-2H-thieno[3,4b][1,4]dioxepine and used in electrochromic device. In the third part of the thesis, 2,3,5,6-tetrakis(4-bromophenyl) pyrazine (4Br-TPP) was synthesized and coupled with bis(4-methoxyphenyl) amine and the product will be used in perovskite solar cell application as a hole transport material (HTM).

Synthesis of bistriphenylamine and benzodithiophene based random conjugated polymers for organic photovoltaic applications
Çetin, Aslı; Çırpan, Ali; Department of Chemistry (2018)
Nowadays, traditional fossil fuels have become unable to compensate huge energy demand of the world due to the population increasing day by day and bringing about destructive greenhouse effect. Owing to all of these problems, renewable energy sources such as solar energy not only can be candidate for the solution of this expanded energy need but also can protect the earth by reducing the production of greenhouse gas. In this study, electronic, optical features and photovoltaic applications of two novel orga...
Inverted organic solar cell applications of benzodithiophene and benzotriazole bearing alternating copolymers
Bolayır, Eda; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Department of Chemistry (2018)
In this thesis, electrochemical, optical and photovoltaic studies of two novel benzodithiophene and 1,2,3-benzotriazole bearing alternating copolymers were investigated. Benzodithiophene which has a strong electron donating ability and planar structure was used as the donor moiety. On the other hand, benzotriazole was used as an acceptor moiety due to its electron deficient nature. In order to determine the effect of л-bridges, thiophene (P1) and selenophene (P2) moieties were incorporated between the donor...
Synthesis of new multifunctional polyfluorene & donor acceptor type polyfluorene derivatives

Explosive materials have always been attracting the attention of scientists. Various explosives either in pure bulk form or as admixtures are synthesized and investigated from different points of view. However, because of dangerous character of these materials, their syntheses and properties have to be forecasted by theoretical studies. The new research trends of explosive materials generally include the designs of novel derivatives of well–known explosives to improve their detonation performances (heats of...
Synthesis and investigation of optical and electrochemical properties of organoboron based donor-acceptor type conjugated polymers
Ayyıldız, Berrin; Çırpan, Ali; Dengiz, Çağatay; Department of Chemistry (2021-7)
In recent years, the element boron has an important place in the studies of alternative energy sources to solve problems arising in the field of energy production. In addition to its superior properties and wide use in many industry areas, it is known that boron is integrated into conjugated organic structures. One of the current focus points of studies on alternative energy sources is polymers with semiconductor conjugated structures and small organic molecules. In this study, boron units were embedded in ...
Investigation of bismuth doped bioglass/graphene oxide nanocomposites for bone tissue engineering
Pazarçeviren, Ahmet Engin; Tezcaner, Ayşen; Keskin, Dilek; Evis, Zafer (2018-03-01)
In this study, bismuth doped 45S5 nanobioactive bioglass (nBG) and graphene oxide (GO) nanocomposites were developed and characterized in terms of microstructural, mechanical, bioactivity and biological properties. Bismuth (Bi) - doped nBG was synthesized by sol-gel method and sintered at 600 degrees C for 2 h. Nanosized GO was homogeneously mixed with Bi doped bioglass at various ratios to prepare nanocomposites. Addition of Bi increased the density of nBG samples while a considerable decrease in density w...
