Asymptotically flat black holes in 2 + 1 dimensions are a rarity. We study the recently found black flower solutions (asymptotically flat black holes with deformed horizons), static black holes, rotating black holes and the dynamical black flowers (black holes with radiative gravitons) of the purely quadratic version of new massive gravity. We show how they appear in this theory and we also show that they are also solutions to the infinite order extended version of the new massive gravity, that is the Born-Infeld extension of new massive gravity with an amputated Einsteinian piece. The same metrics also solve the topologically extended versions of these theories, with modified conserved charges and the thermodynamical quantities, such as the Wald entropy. Besides these we find new conformally flat radiating type solutions to these extended gravity models. We also show that these metrics do not arise in Einstein's gravity coupled to physical perfect fluids.

A topological approach to the stabilities of isomeric Huckel and Mobius type cyclacenes
Türker, Burhan Lemi (1997-01-01)
Within the constraints of Huckel molecular orbital theory, Huckel and Mobius type cyclacenes were investigated in terms of their angle of total pi-electron energy, O pi, and cos O pi to find out how structural changes affect the stabilities. It has been theoretically deduced that as the number of benzenoid rings (R) increases the isomeric Huckel and Mobius type cyclacenes should have comparable stabilities, although for low values of R odd-Huckel type and even-Mobius type are predicted to be more stable.
Event horizon detecting invariants
Tavlayan, Aydın; Tekin, Bayram (American Physical Society (APS), 2020-04-14)
Some judiciously chosen local curvature scalars can be used to invariantly characterize event horizons of black holes inD > 3 dimensions, but they fail for the three dimensional Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) black hole since all curvature invariants are constant. Here we provide an invariant characterization of the event horizon of the BTZ black hole using the curvature invariants of codimension one hypersurfaces instead of the full spacetime. Our method is also applicable to black holes in generic dimen...
Equivariant Reduction of Gauge Theories over Fuzzy Extra Dimensions
Kürkcüoğlu, Seçkin (IOP Publishing, 2012-2-8)
In SU(N) Yang-Mills theories on a manifold M, which are suitably coupled to a set of scalars, fuzzy spheres may be generated as extra dimensions by spontaneous symmetry breaking. This process results in gauge theories over the product space of the manifold M and the fuzzy spheres with smaller gauge groups. Here we present the SU(2)- and SU(2) x SU(2)-equivariant parametrization of U(2) and U(4) gauge fields on S-F(2), and S-F(2), x S-F(2), respectively and outline the dimensional reduction of these theories...
Finite mass gravitating Yang monopoles
CEBECİ, HAKAN; Sarıoğlu, Bahtiyar Özgür; Tekin, Bayram (American Physical Society (APS), 2008-12-01)
We show that gravity cures the infrared divergence of the Yang monopole when a proper definition of conserved quantities in curved backgrounds is used, i.e. the gravitating Yang monopole in cosmological Einstein theory has a finite mass in generic even dimensions (including time). In addition, we find exact Yang-monopole type solutions in the cosmological Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet-Yang-Mills theory and briefly discuss their properties.
Topologically massive gravity as a Pais-Uhlenbeck oscillator
Sarıoğlu, Bahtiyar Özgür; Tekin, Bayram (IOP Publishing, 2006-12-21)
We give a detailed account of the free- field spectrum and the Newtonian limit of the linearized ` massive' ( Pauli -Fierz), 'topologically massive' ( Einstein Hilbert - Chern - Simons) gravity in 2 + 1 dimensions about a Minkowski spacetime. For a certain ratio of the parameters, the linearized free theory is Jordan diagonalizable and reduces to a degenerate ` Pais - Uhlenbeck' oscillator which, despite being a higher derivative theory, is ghost free.
