DEVELOPMENT OF PB-RICH (BI, PB)3SR2CA2CU1OX PHASE DURING REFORMATION OF LEAD DOPED 2223 SUPERCONDUCTING PHASE FROM MELT QUENCHED GLASS

1992-05-01
The reformation process of the lead doped superconducting 2223 phase from the melt quenched glass was investigated. It was shown that during the crystallisation of the glass a new lead rich phase, Bi0.5Pb3Sr2Ca2CU1Ox, was formed and severe copper segregation was observed. The volume fraction of the high T(c) 2223 phase increased with annealing time for an annealing temperature of 840-degrees-C. A glass sample annealed at 840-degrees-C for 150 h showed two superconducting transitions T(c) = 107 K and T(c) = 70 K.

Processing and microstructural characterization of liquid phase sintered tungsten-nickel-cobalt heavy alloys
DINCER, Onur; PEHLIVANOGLU, M. Kaan; CALISKAN, N. Kaan; Karakaya, İshak; Kalkanlı, Ali (2015-05-01)
In this.study, the effects of composition and sintering temperature on the microstructural characteristics of liquid phase sintered 90W-Ni-Co alloys were investigated. 90W-Ni-Co alloys having Ni/Co ratios of 3/1, 4/1 and 6/1 were examined. It was found that the alloys studied have reached almost to full density when sintered at and above 1475 degrees C. The microstructures of the alloys were typical of liquid phase sintered alloys, which consisted of rounded, nearly pure W grains embedded in a ternary Ni-Co...
Fabrication of microporous ceramics from ceramic powders of quartz-natural zeolite mixtures
San, O; Abali, S; Hoşten, Çetin (Elsevier BV, 2003-01-01)
The possibility of producing ceramic powders suitable for the fabrication of microporous filters was investigated through the thermal treatment of the powder mixtures of a high-purity (99.09% SiO2) quartz and clinoptilolite type of natural zeolite. The quartz and zeolite, mixed in the ratio of 3:1 by weight, was wet ground in a ball mill, the powder was sieved on a 90-mum screen, and the undersize was dried and sintered in the powder form at the temperatures of 1000, 1100 and 1200degreesC for 7 h in an air ...
Characterization of nanostructured magnetite thin films produced by sol-gel processing
Eken, Ali Erdem; Özenbaş, Ahmet Macit (2009-06-01)
Nanocrystalline films of magnetite have been prepared by a novel sol-gel route in which, a solution of iron (III) nitrate dissolved in ethylene glycol was applied on glass substrates by spin coating. Coating solution showed Newtonian behaviour and viscosity was found as 0.0215 Pa.s. Annealing temperature was selected between 291 and 350 A degrees C by DTA analysis in order to obtain magnetite films. In-plane grazing angle XRD and TEM studies showed that magnetite phase was present upon annealing the films a...
Production of ammonium nitrohumate from Elbistan lignite and its use as a coal binder
Yildirim, M; Ozbayoglu, G (1997-04-01)
The conversion of Elbistan lignite into nitrogen-rich, alkali-soluble humic acid (ammonium nitrohumate) and its use as a coal binder were investigated. The optimum conditions for nitric acid oxidation and ammoniation were determined. The optimum HNO3 concentration was determined as 4.87 wt%. As a result, a humic acid solution containing 10.75 wt% nitrogen was obtained with 88.2 wt% recovery from Elbistan lignite. Coal-derived humic acid was used as a binder in briquetting of Tuncbilek lignite fines. It was ...
A MODIFICATION OF THE DENO OXIDATION PROCESS FOR USE IN THE SOLUBILIZATION OF HIGHER RANKED COALS
BURKE, S; JARVIE, AWP; GAINES, AF (Elsevier BV, 1992-04-01)
Three solvent extracted, methylated British bituminous coals were oxidized with trifluoroperoxyacetic acid (TFPA). The soluble and insoluble fractions were analysed using a range of physical and chemical techniques. The TFPA oxidized insoluble fraction from the highest rank coal, Cortonwood Silkstone, was reduced, tosylated and re-reduced. The resultant product was further solubilized by re-oxidation with TFPA. The re-oxidized insoluble residue was examined by C-13 cross-polarization/magic angle spinning n....
