This paper deals with the modelling and analysis of a shunt active power filter by the use of a MATLAB/Simulink program. The modelling approach adopted in the paper is graphical in nature, as opposed to mathematical models embedded in code using a high-level computer language. The model is presented clearly and in a detailed manner, targetted especially at postgraduate students. The performance of the active power filter is illustrated by considering a 400 kV A, six-pulse, fully controlled bridge rectifier supplied from a typical distribution system via a rectifier transformer.

Design of Microstrip Quadruplet Filters on Filpro
Oruc, Sacid; Yıldırım, Nevzat (2018-11-02)
In this paper, a simple dimensional design procedure is developed for microstrip/stripline quadruplet filters by starting with direct BP synthesis of a lumped quadruplet with inverter couplings, K14, K12, K23 and K34. K14 is the cross-coupling inverter which creates a symmetric pair of finite transmission zeros (FTZ's) if the sign of K14 is opposite of the other inverters while a complex TZ is created if K14 has the same sign as the other inverters leading to linear phase (flat delay) responses. The LC reso...
Investigation on Series Active Filter Compensated High Power Grid-Connected Voltage Source Inverters with LCL Filter
Usluer, S. Nadir; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2014-09-18)
This paper deals with Series Active Filter (SAF) based damping methods for the LCL filters of three-phase, grid connected, low voltage, high power Voltage Source Inverters (VSIs). The inherent resonance problem of LCL filters is damped via passive or active damping methods. Passive damping methods employing damping resistors create significant power losses reducing the overall system's efficiency for high power inverters. Active damping methods, on the other hand, are not applicable due to inverter's limite...
Advanced Active Power Filter to Improve Power Quality
Gurguiatu, Gelu; Balanuta, Ciprian; Rosu, Emil; Munteanu, Toader; Dumitrescu, Mariana; Raducan, Elena (2011-09-10)
This paper presents a three-phase Active Power Filter (APF) to improve grid power quality. Starting from indirect control strategy which was used only for three legs - three wires it is proposed in this paper to be used a bridge with three legs - four wire. The new control strategy it was named extended indirect control strategy. The extension consists in passing from the control of a three wire active power filter to the control of a four wire active power filter. The proposed active power filter can compe...
An experimental study on Power Amplifier linearisation by artificial neural networks Yapay Sinir Aǧlari ile Güç Yükselteç Doǧrusalląstirma Amaçli Deneysel Bir Çalisma
Yesil, Soner; Kolagasioglu, Ahmet Ertugrul; Yılmaz, Ali Özgür (2018-07-05)
This paper represents an experimental study on the linearisation of Power Amplifiers especially on high output power regions by utilizing an artificial neural network structure and open-loop training method. For the same in-band output power, 9dB EVM and 6dB ACLR improvement has been observed on hardware by feeding the proposed digital predistortion signal (DPD) to the PA under test.
Performance enhancement and comparison of discrete time current regulators for parallel active filters
Ozkaya, Hasan; Senturk, Osman Selcuk; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2007-09-05)
Discrete time linear and hysteresis current regulators (CR) for three-phase parallel active filters (PAF) are reviewed and evaluated. A novel discrete time hysteresis current regulation method with current oversampling and flexible PWM release capability, DHCR3, which has superior overall performance and simple implementation (no additional hardware) is proposed. Switching ripple filters (SRF) suitable for each CR type are designed. A DSP controlled PAF is designed and built for a three-phase 10 kW diode re...
