European Regions, EU External Borders and the Immediate Neighbours. Analysing Regional Development Options through Policies and Practices of Cross-Border Co-operation (EUBORDERREGIONS)
Ayata, Ayşe(2015)
EUBORDERRREGIONS will investigate the manifold consequences of increasing cross-border interaction for the development of regions at the EU’s external borders and, in this way, contribute to scientific and policy debate on the future of economic, social and territorial cohesion within the EU. Importantly, the project will contextualise development issues in selected EU “Borderlands” with regard to interaction between the EU and countries of the immediate “neighbourhood”. Within the context of these challeng...
Modeling of environmental temperature dependency for sensors operated by sagnac effect
Alaçakır, Ece; Çakır, Serhat; Department of Physics (2019)
In this thesis, the purpose is that theoretical, experimental and simulation environment are combined to observe and model the thermal sensitivity of a gyroscope which is operated by the principle of Sagnac effect. It is essential to enhance the knowledge and experience, and to gain ability to simulate for different thermal conditions for future developments of the advanced gyroscope technologies. This thesis investigates how external temperature change influences the performance of fiber optic gyroscopes, ...
Out-of-band radiation and CFO immunity of potential 5G multicarrier modulation schemes
Üçüncü, Ali Bulut; Yılmaz, Ali Özgür; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2015)
In this study, generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) and windowed cyclic prefix circular offset quadrature amplitude modulation (WCP-COQAM), which are candidate physical layer modulation schemes for the 5G systems, are compared to orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) in terms of out-of-band (OOB) radiation levels and carrier frequency offset (CFO) immunity. GFDM and WCP- COQAM are shown to be superior to OFDM with respect to OOB emissions in some studies in literature. However, we c...
Frontex's cooperation with Turkey: beyond technicality
Cangönül, Mer; Bahçecik, Şerif Onur; Department of International Relations (2019)
This thesis examines the effects of Frontex’s cooperation with Turkey in the context of EUTurkey relations. In line with the EU’s externalization strategy, Frontex conducts several activities to improve Turkey’s border management capacity in the 2010s so that Turkey be able to restrict the migratory flows toward the EU. In this frame, the agency has conducted several activities to promote the utilization of risk analysis, data collection methods, exchange data among units and train border guards in Turkey’s...
Finite Horizon Online Packet Scheduling with Energy and Delay Constraints
Bacınoğlu, Baran Tan; Uysal, Elif (2013-07-05)
A finite horizon optimal packet scheduling problem with data and energy causality constraints is posed. The slotted structure of the problem makes discrete time stochastic dynamic programming suitable for obtaining its optimal solution. This structure also enables an offline optimal solution that facilitates an online scheduling heuristic. The online heuristic, which does not require prior knowledge of data and energy arrival statistics, is observed (via simulations) to perform closely to the online optimal...
