Properties of invertase immobilized on poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) microbeads activated by epichlorohydrin or cyanuric chloride were studied. After 20 repeated uses for 3 days, the activity of the immobilized enzyme was 92-93%.

Enantioselective chemoenzymatic synthesis of oseltamivir (tamiflu)(r) intermediates
Eşiyok, Hacı; Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı; Department of Biotechnology (2008)
The objective of this presented study was to synthesize optically active compounds considered to be key intermediates in the synthesis of Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) by performing chemical and biotechnological methods. Thereof, the carboethoxy cyclohexenone skeleton first was synthesized utilizing easily available substances. The synthesis of alpha-hydroxy ketones in enantiomerically pure form offers a great importance in the synthesis of biologically active compounds. Toward this fact, the enantioselective synth...
PERMEABILITY OF PHEMA MEMBRANES PREPARED BY PHOTOINITIATION
ARICA, MY; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (1993-01-01)
Poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) membranes were prepared in aqueous media with different ions and ionic strengths. The enzyme glucose oxidase was incorporated into some of these membranes. It was found that membrane water contents and ionic strengths have a linear relationship as long as the salt is not changed. When the salt was varied, only a relationship between salt concentration and water content could be observed. The membrane permeabilities were all found to be of the same order (10(-8) cm2 s-1) but...
Immobilization of invertase in conducting polymer matrices
Selampinar, F; Akbulut, Ural; Ozden, MY; Toppare, Levent Kamil (1997-09-01)
This paper reports a novel approach in the electrode immobilization of an enzyme, invertase, by electrochemical polymerization of pyrrole in the presence of enzyme. The polypyrrole/invertase and polyamide/polypyrrole/invertase electrodes were constructed by the entrapment of enzyme in conducting matrices during electrochemical polymerization of pyrrole. This study involves the preparation and characterization of polypyrrole/invertase and polyamide/polypyrrole/invertase electrodes under conditions compatible...
Selective oxidation of propylene to propylene oxide using combinatorial methodologies
Miyazaki, T; Ozturk, S; Onal, I; Senkan, S (Elsevier BV, 2003-06-30)
Direct oxidation of propylene by oxygen to propylene oxide (PO) has been studied through the application of the techniques of combinatorial catalysis. Catalytic materials containing single and binary metal components were prepared by impregnating standard gamma-Al2O3 pellets. In the first stage, 34 single component catalytic materials at three different metal loading levels were prepared and screened for PO activity and selectivity using array channel microreactors and mass spectrometry. Experiments were co...
Immobilization of yeast cells in several conducting polymer matrices
Balci, Z; Akbulut, Ural; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Alkan, S; Bakir, U; Yagci, Y (2002-01-01)
Immobilization of yeast cells (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) in different polymer matrices was performed by constant potential electrolysis. These matrices were polypyrrole (PPy); poly(methyl methacrylate)/polypyrrole (,PMMA/PPy) and thiophene-capped poly(methyl methacrylate)/ polypyrrole (TPMMA/PPy). The characterization of PMMA/PPy copolymer was achieved by Fourier-transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The invertase activity of...
