A series of new 1-aryl-3,5-dimethylpyrazolium based tunable protic ionic liquids/salts ([Ph(R)Hpz][X], R: -H, -Cl, -Br, -CH3, -OCH3, X: chloride [Cl-] and tetrafluoroborate (BF4-) have been synthesized through acid-base neutralization reactions between 1-aryl-3,5-dimethy1-1H-pyrazoles and the corresponding inorganic acids. The chemical structure of the salts was confirmed by FTIR, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, elemental analysis, and F-19 NMR (3a-3e) and the crystal structure of the two salts (2a and 3d) was also elucidated by X-ray analysis of single crystals. Melting points and thermal decomposition temperatures of TPILs (2e and 3b) were determined. The geometries of the cations, anions and ionic salts were optimized, and their molecular electrostatic potentials (MEPs) were assessed by using density functional theory methods (B3LYP and M06-2X). The electrochemical window of the salts was determined both experimentally and theoretically. The correlation coefficient values were also calculated by using theoretical and experimental EW values of the salts.

1-aryl-2-alkyl-3,5-dimethylpyrazolium based tunable aryl alkyl ionic liquids
Özdemir, Melek (2018-1-3)
Ionic liquids (ILs) are organic molten salts with melting points below 100 °C .Owing to their remarkable properties, they have been widely used for various applications as environmentally benign alternative to volatile organic solvents over the last decade [1,2]. In recent years the new generation of ILs called tunable aryl alkyl ionic liquids (TAAILs) has drawn attention for modifying the properties of ILs for specific applications [3,4]. Unlike commonly known alkyl substituted ILs the prop...
Pyrazolium based Ionic Liquids: Crystal Structures and Theoretical Calculations
Özdemir, Melek; Şahin, Ertan (null; 2018-04-27)
Ionic liquids (IL) are ionic, salt-like materials and composed of an organic cation and anion. Different types of anions and cations can be used to modify the chemical and physical properties of the IL. Phosphonium, ammonium, sulfonium, imidazolium, picolinium, pyridinium, pyrrolidinium, thiazolium, oxazolium and pyrazolium cations are widely used cations in the synthesis of ionic liquids, while hexafluorophosphate and tetrafluoroborate are the most prominent anions used in IL synthesis [1]. A series of tun...
Prediction of hexagonal lattice parameters of various apatites by artificial neural networks
Kockan, Umit; Evis, Zafer (International Union of Crystallography (IUCr), 2010-08-01)
In this study, the hexagonal lattice parameters of apatite compounds, M-10(TO4)(6)X-2, where M is Na+, Ca2+, Ba2+, Cd2+, Pb2+, Sr2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Eu2+, Nd3+, La3+ or Y3+, T is As+5, Cr+5, P5+, V5+ or Si+4, and X is F-, Cl-, OH- or Br-, were predicted from their ionic radii by artificial neural networks. A multilayer perceptron network was used for training and the best results were obtained with a Bayesian regularization method. Four neurons were used in the hidden layer, utilizing a tangent sigmoid activati...
Axial water substitution kinetics of sulphato- and hydrogenphosphato-bridged binuclear platinum(III) complexes
Camadanli, S; Deveci, N; Gokagac, G; Isci, H (Elsevier BV, 2003-07-22)
The kinetics of the axial water substitution reactions for [Pt-2(B-B)(4)(H2O)(2)](2-) (B-B = SO42-, HpO(4)(2-)) with Cl-, Br- and SCN- are reported in acidic aqueous solution. With a large excess of entering ligand and hydrogen ion, only the disubstituted product complex was formed. The reaction rates are first order with respect to the substrate complex and entering ligand and decrease with increasing H+ concentration. In the presence of 0.10 M H+, the rate constants for the replacement of the first water ...
Effects of para-substitution and alkyl chain length on the melting points of tunable aryl alkyl pyrazolium hexafluorophosphate ionic liquids
Özdemir, Melek (null; 2018-04-27)
Ionic liquids (ILs) are low-melting organic salts that consist entirely of ions. During the last decade, they have found numerous applications because of their unique properties such as wide liquid range, nonflammability and negligible vapor pressure at ambient temperatures [1-3]. The properties of ILs can be tuned by changing the constituent ions. In recent years, unlike commonly known alkyl substituted ILs a new class of ILs called Tunable Aryl Alkyl Ionic Liquids (TAAILs) has drawn attention [4-6]. By re...
