Receptances of non proportionally and continuously damped plates equivalent dampers method

1981-05-01
A method for the dynamic analysis of continuously and non-proportionally damped plates is discussed. The method is quite general and suitable for various damping treatments, such as in multilayer plates with damping layers. The transverse vibrations of partially coated plates under harmonic excitation are analyzed by the proposed method. The results of the undamped modal analysis made by classical finite element methods are used in the suggested lumped parameter analysis. The receptance matrices of coated plates have been computed at undamped natural frequencies. The computational results have been verified by comparison with experimental values for partially and fully coated rectangular plates.

Receptances of non proportionally and continuously damped plates Reduced dampers method
Özgüven, Hasan Nevzat (Elsevier BV, 1982-12-01)
This paper presents a method for the dynamic analysis of continuously and non-proportionally damped plates in bending modes. The damping can be in the form of constrained or unconstrained layers. The method is an extension of the equivalent dampers method discussed in a previous paper, in which the damping matrix of a discretized plate is replaced by a diagonal equivalent damping matrix. Each diagonal element represents an equivalent damper inserted between the structure and ground. In this method the numbe...
FINITE-ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF PRESTRESSED AND REINFORCED-CONCRETE STRUCTURES
ELMEZAINI, N; CITIPITIOGLU, E (American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), 1991-10-01)
A practical and powerful technique for the discrete representation of reinforcement in finite element analysis of prestressed and reinforced concrete structures is presented. Isoparametric quadratic and cubic finite elements with movable nodes are developed utilizing a correction technique for mapping distortion. Reinforcing bars and/or prestressing tendons are modeled independently of the concrete mesh. Perfect or no bond as well as any bond-slip model can easily be represented. The procedure is succes...
Nonlinear analysis of R/C low-rise shear walls
Mansour, Mohamad Y.; Dicleli, Murat; Lee, Jung Yoon (SAGE Publications, 2004-08-01)
An analysis method for predicting the response of low-rise shear walls under both monotonic and cyclic loading is presented in this paper. The proposed analysis method is based on the softened truss model theory but utilizes newly proposed cyclic constitutive relationships for concrete and steel bars obtained from cyclic shear testing. The successfulness of the analysis method, when combined with new materials constitutive relationships, is checked against the test results of 33 low-rise shear walls reporte...
FORCED VIBRATIONS OF TRIPLY COUPLED, PERIODICALLY AND ELASTICALLY SUPPORTED, FINITE, OPEN-SECTION CHANNELS
Yaman, Yavuz (Elsevier BV, 2002-2)
An exact analytical method is presented for the analysis of forced vibrations of uniform, open-section, single- and multi-bay periodic channels. The centre of gravity and the shear centre of the channel cross-sections do not coincide, and hence the flexural vibrations in two mutually perpendicular directions and the torsional vibrations are all coupled. The ends of the channels and the periodic intermediate supports are modelled with springs having finite flexural and torsional stiffnesses. Single-point for...
STOCHASTIC-ANALYSIS OF UNSATURATED FLOW - ONE-DIMENSIONAL MONTE-CARLO SIMULATIONS AND COMPARISONS WITH SPECTRAL PERTURBATION ANALYSIS AND FIELD OBSERVATIONS
Ünlü, Kahraman; BIGGAR, JW (1990-09-01)
A numerical experiment was designed to study the stochastic behavior of one‐dimensional transient unsaturated flow in a Monte Carlo setting. Soil hydraulic properties, log‐saturated hydraulic conductivity ln Ks, pore size distribution parameter α, and the specific water capacity C are assumed to be statistically homogeneous random fields described by exponential correlation functions with identical correlation lengths. Fifty realizations of each soil hydraulic property, with statistical properties obtained ...
