In this study, a quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) study is carried out to estimate the physical properties of substituted polypyrrole (PPy) and polyparaphenylene (PPP). The effects of the substituted side-chains composed of epsilon-caprolactone, ethylene and styrene oligomers on the glass transition temperature, cohesive energy and dielectric constant of PPy and PPP are studied and the results are analyzed in terms of backbone structure, the type and the length of the side-chains. It is shown that the T-g of the polymers can be lowered upon substitution of flexible side-chains. The cohesive energy is higly dependent on the the strength of the non-bonded interactions and it is increased by incorporation of flexible side-chains. The dielectric constant of the polymers is found to be increased depending on the polarizability and the dipole moment density of the side-chains. (C) Koninklijke Brill NV, Leiden, 2011

Core
synthesis of a novel series of furan and fluorene containing monomers and their polymers
Güneş, Arzu; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar; Cihaner, Atilla; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2011)
In this study, a novel series of conjugated monomers containing furan and fluorene units; 2,7-di(furan-2-yl)-9H-fluoren-9-one (FOF), 2-(2-(furan-2-yl)-9H-fluoren-7-yl)furan (FFF), and 2-(2-(furan-2-yl)-9,9-dihexyl-9H-fluoren-7-yl)furan (FHF) were synthesized and their electrochemical polymerization were achieved via potential cycling. Optical and electrochemical properties of the polymers, poly(2,7-di(furan-2-yl)-9H-fluoren-9-one) (PFOF), poly(2-(2-(furan-2-yl)-9H-fluoren-7-yl)furan (PFFF) and poly(2-(2-(fu...
Electrochemical synthesis of new conjugated polymers based on carbazole and furan units
Oguzturk, H. Esra; TİRKEŞ, SEHA; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (2015-08-01)
In this study, synthesis of four new monomers; 3,6-di(2-furyl)-9H-carbazole (M1), 3,6-di(2-furyl)-9-ethyl-carbazole (M2), 2,7-di(2-furyl)-9-H-carbazole (M3), 2,7-di(2-furyl)-9-(tridecan-7-yl)-9H-carbazole (M4), was achieved via Stifle cross-coupling reaction. The monomers were electrochemically polymerized, via repetitive cycling in acetonitrile-tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate electrolytic medium. Optical and electrochemical properties of the monomers and their corresponding polymers were investigate...
A SURVEY OF FATIGUE CRACK-GROWTH LIFE ESTIMATION METHODOLOGIES
AKYUREK, T; BILIR, OG (Elsevier BV, 1992-07-01)
In this study, three fatigue crack growth life estimation methodologies are reviewed and sample calculations are made using these methodologies. Comparisons of the results with respect to the methodologies are made. Three computer codes which represent these methodologies, CRACKS IV, FAST and FATIGUE, are selected for the analyses. The estimations are also correlated to the test results.
A theoretical study on nitrourea and its tautomers
Türker, Burhan Lemi; Gumus, Selcuk; Atalar, Taner; Atlanel, Sencer (Informa UK Limited, 2008-01-01)
In the present study, nitrourea and its possible tautomers have been subjected to theoretical analysis by performing Hartree-Fock and also density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The optimized geometries, vibrational frequencies, and some thermodynamical values for the presently considered species have been obtained in their ground states.
A comparative study of the influence of N, N '-dialkyl vs. N, N '-diaryl-based electron donor ancillary ligands on photocurrent and photovoltage in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs)
Ashraf, Saba; Yıldırım, Erol; Akhtar, Javeed; Siddiqi, Humaira M.; El-Shafei, Ahmed (2017-08-21)
In this study, we report the synthesis of a novel heteroleptic Ru(II)-sensitizer, (Ru(2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'dicarboxylic acid)-4,4'-bis(4-piperidin-1-yl) phenyl ethenyl)-(2,2'-bipyridine) (NCS)(2), denoted as SD-1; moreover, its photophysical, electrochemical, and photovoltaic performances were compared with those of N719 and K77-7 (N, N'-diaryl Ru-sensitizer, namely Ru(2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylic-acid)4,4'- bis(2-(4-N, N'-diphenylaminophenyl) ethenyl)-2,2'-bipyridine (NCS) 2). The photovoltaic performa...
