HARMONIC MAPS AND MAGNETOSTATIC, AXIALLY-SYMMETRICAL SOLUTIONS OF THE KALUZA-KLEIN THEORY
DERELI, T; ERIS, A; ERIS, A; Karasu, Atalay (1986-05-01)
Magnetostatic, axially symmetric 5-dimensional vacuum Einstein equations are formulated in terms of harmonic maps. A correspondence between stationary, axially symmetric 4-dimensional vacuum Einstein solutions and the magnetostatic, axially symmetric Jordan-Thiry solutions is established. The «Kaluza-Klein magnetic monopole» solution is recovered in a special case.
Harmonicity of maps between (indefinite) metric-f-manifolds and rho-pseudo harmonic morphisms
Erdem, S (2003-10-01)
Conditions are investigated for maps to be harmonic between M(P)-f-manifolds with (semi-)Riemannian metrics. Also a geometrical condition, phi(r)-pseudo horizontally weak conformality [which is weaker than horizontally weak conformality when they are comparable], is imposed on maps of a (semi-) Riemannian manifold into a metric M(P)-f-manifold with (semi-) Riemannian metric and harmonicity of such maps are discussed. Some results obtained by Loubeau and Lichnerowicz in the almost Hermitian case are given he...
Harmonic Response of Large Engineering Structures with Nonlinear Modifications
Kalaycioglu, Taner; Özgüven, Hasan Nevzat (2011-07-06)
In a structural design, the structure may need to be modified and for each modification its dynamic characteristics may need to be determined by reanalyzing the structure dynamically. Since computational time and cost are very critical in design processes, structural modification methods become decisive, particularly for large systems, in predicting the dynamic behavior of modified structures from those of the original and modifying structures. Due to nonlinearity in most engineering structures, linearity a...
Harmonic response of large engineering structures with nonlinear modifications
Kalaycıoğlu, Taner; Özgüven, Hasan Nevzat; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2011)
During the design and development stages of mechanical structures, after each modification made in order to satisfy design criteria, dynamic characteristics of the structure change and should be determined through reanalyzing the structure dynamically. Due to the significance of computational time and cost in design processes, it is inevitable for structural modification methods, especially for large systems, to become involved in predicting the dynamic behavior of modified structures from those of the orig...
