A Plasmonically Enhanced Pixel Structure for Uncooled Microbolometer Detectors
Erturk, Ozan; Battal, Enes; Kucuk, Seniz Esra; Okyay, Ali Kemal; Akın, Tayfun (2013-05-03)
This paper introduces a method of broadband absorption enhancement that can be integrated with the conventional suspended microbolometer process with no significant additional cost. The premise of this study is that electric field can be enhanced throughout the structural layer of the microbolometer, resulting in an increase in the absorption of the infrared radiation in the long wave infrared window. A concentric double C-shaped plasmonic geometry is simulated using the FDTD method, and this geometry is fa...
A NOVEL CPW-FED ANTENNA WITH DUAL BAND-NOTCHED CHARECTRESTICS FOR UWB APPLICATIONS
Sefidi, Mehdi; Zehforoosh, Yashar; Moradi, Shahram (2015-10-01)
In this article, a coplanar waveguide fed (CPW-fed) ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with dual band-notched characteristics is presented. Using two diamond-shaped stepped impedance resonators, two notched bands are obtained. The simulation and measurement results show that proposed antenna covers the frequency band between 2.85 and 11 GHz (118%), defined by VSWR<2. The proposed antenna has a total size 20 x 20 x 1.6 mm(3) and performed at the whole UWB with dual notched bands at WiMAX (3.4-3.6 GHz) and WLAN (5....
A hybrid flotation-gravity circuit for improved metal recovery
Klein, B; Altun, Naci Emre; Ghaffari, H; McLeavy, M (2010-04-28)
The performance of a novel hybrid flotation-gravity concentration circuit was evaluated in which a Knelson Continuous Variable Discharge (CVD) separator was used as a scavenger for flotation tailings. Flotation tailings from the Eskay Creek Gold Mine were used for the study. Batch and pilot scale laboratory tests and plant trials were performed. Results of the batch and pilot tests showed that a product with a small yield (<5%), a high upgrade ratio and significant Au (sulphide mineral) recovery could be ac...

An adaptive piezoelectric energy harvesting interface circuit with a novel peak detector
Chamanian, S.; Zorlu, O.; Külah, Haluk; Muhtaroglu, A. (2015-03-26)
This paper presents a fully self-powered interface circuit with a novel peak detector for piezoelectric energy harvesters (PEH). This circuit can be utilized to scavenge energy from low power environmental vibrations in 10s of mu W range. Synchronous switching technique is used to extract maximum available power where switching instants are detected independently from excitation changes of the PEH. The proposed peak detector senses voltages higher than power supply for a wide frequency range of input vibrat...
