We present the embedding of three-dimensional SO(4) proportional to R-6 gauged N = 4 supergravity with quaternionic target space SO(4, 4)/(SO(4) x SO(4)) into D = 6, N = (1, 0) supergravity coupled to a single chiral tensor multiplet through a consistent reduction on AdS(3) x S-3. The Dirac-Yukawa problem in view of pseudospin symmetry
AYDOĞDU, OKTAY; Sever, Ramazan (IOP Publishing, 2011-08-01)
An approximate analytical solution of the Dirac equation for the Yukawa potential under the pseudospin symmetry condition is obtained using the asymptotic iteration method. We discover the energy eigenvalue equation and some of the numerical results are listed. Wave functions are obtained in terms of hypergeometric functions. Extra degeneracies are removed by adding a new term, A/r(2), to the Yukawa potential. The effects of tensor interaction on the two states in the pseudospin doublet are also investigated.
A formula for the joint local spectral radius
Emel'yanov, EY; Ercan, Z (American Mathematical Society (AMS), 2004-01-01)
We give a formula for the joint local spectral radius of a bounded subset of bounded linear operators on a Banach space X in terms of the dual of X.
Approximate analytical solutions of the Klein-Gordon equation for the Hulthen potential with the position-dependent mass
Arda, Altug; Sever, Ramazan; TEZCAN, CEVDET (IOP Publishing, 2009-01-01)
The Klein-Gordon equation is solved approximately for the Hulthen potential for any angular momentum quantum number l with the position-dependent mass. Solutions are obtained by reducing the Klein-Gordon equation into a Schrodinger-like differential equation using an appropriate coordinate transformation. The Nikiforov-Uvarov method is used in the calculations to get energy eigenvalues and the wavefunctions. It is found that the results in the case of constant mass are in good agreement with the ones obtain...
A parabolic quantum dot with N electrons and an impurity
Gulveren, B; Atav, U; Sahin, M; Tomak, Mehmet (Elsevier BV, 2005-12-01)
Ground-state properties of a two-dimensional quantum dot composed of N electrons and an impurity are investigated by the Thomas-Fermi (TF) method at T = 0. The changes induced by the impurity in electron density, chemical potential and total energy are calculated. Calculations are also performed for different number of particles and strength of confinement. The results indicate that Thomas-Fermi approximation is applicable even when the system contains only a few particles.
A finite element variational multiscale method for the Navier-Stokes equations
Volker, John; Kaya Merdan, Songül (Society for Industrial & Applied Mathematics (SIAM), 2005-01-01)
This paper presents a variational multiscale method (VMS) for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations which is defined by a large scale space L-H for the velocity deformation tensor and a turbulent viscosity nu(T). The connection of this method to the standard formulation of a VMS is explained. The conditions on L-H under which the VMS can be implemented easily and efficiently into an existing finite element code for solving the Navier - Stokes equations are studied. Numerical tests with the Smagorinsky ...
