Surgical repair of cartilage defects of the patella
Atik, OS; Korkusuz, Feza (Ovid Technologies (Wolters Kluwer Health), 2001-08-01)
The structure and biomechanical forces on the patellar joint challenges researchers to define an ideal method for resurfacing the patellar cartilage. The articular surface of the patella presents variability between individuals, and has various minor articulations that bear partial or total compressive, shear, and combined forces during movement. Surgical techniques for the repair of patellar cartilage defects have evolved from cumulative advances in basic science and technology. Such surgeries include the ...
Vibration analysis of the human radius of elderly men
Oezdurak, R. Huerrem; Sezgin, Oender C.; Akın, Serhat; Korkusuz, Feza (Ovid Technologies (Wolters Kluwer Health), 2006-02-01)
Vibration analysis seldom has been used in detecting structural and mechanical changes in physiologic and pathologic bone conditions. We sought to correlate natural frequency of the radius measured by vibration analyses with bone mineral density measured by dual-energy xray absorptiometry and quantitative computed tomography (including cortical thickness). Sixty sedentary men between 50 and 70 years old were deemed osteopenic or healthy. A higher natural frequency of the dominant and nondominant radius was ...
Evaluation of body composition using three different methods compared to dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry
Duz, Serkan; Koçak, Mehmet Settar; Korkusuz, Feza (Informa UK Limited, 2009-01-01)
In this study, we compared the simple methods of skinfolds, ultrasound, and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) against the standard of dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) in the assessment of body fat in normoactive Turkish male and female university students. We wished to develop new regression equations to more accurately predict percent body fat from skinfolds and ultrasound for this group of individuals. One hundred and four male (age 22.22.5 years; height 1.770.06 m; mass 74.910.4 kg) and one h...
Dynamic function of the fibula. Gait analysis evaluation of three different parts of the shank after fibulectomy: proximal, middle and distal
BOZKURT, MURAT; Yavuzer, G; Tönük, Ergin; KENTEL, BEHZAT BAHADIR (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2005-12-01)
The purpose of this case study was to investigate the dynamic features of fibular movement to gait pattern by analyzing the gait of individuals with three different parts of the fibula resected. Gait analyses revealed that proximal fibula resection impaired knee stability, whereas distal fibula resection disturbed ankle kinematics significantly. Except a mild secondary quadriceps weakness, middle fibula resection did not cause a significant biomechanical disturbance on gait.
Effects of robot-assisted gait training in chronic stroke patients treated by botulinum toxin-a: A pivotal study
Erbil, Dursun; Tugba, Gokbel; Murat, Topcu Hasan; Melike, Akarsu; Merve, Akyuez; Cagla, Karacan; Mehmetali, Ciftci Can; Akay, Ozturk; DURSUN, NİGAR (Wiley, 2018-07-01)
ObjectiveTo investigate combined effects of robot-assisted training (RAT) and physical therapy versus physical therapy only on balance and gait function of chronic stroke patients after botulinum toxin-A (BoNT-A) treatment.
