We study the emergent role of many-body effects on a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) within the Thomas-Fermi-Dirac-Poisson approximation, including both the exchange and correlation interactions in the presence of a strong perpendicular magnetic field. It is shown that the indirect interactions widen the odd-integer incompressible strips spatially, whereas the even-integer filling factors almost remain unaffected.

The Wigner molecule in a 2D quantum dot
Akman, N; Tomak, Mehmet (1999-10-01)
The charge density and pair correlation function of three interacting electrons confined within a two-dimensional disc-like hard-wall quantum dot are calculated by full numerical diagonalization of the Hamiltonian. The formation of a Wigner molecule in the form of equilateral triangular configuration for electrons is observed as the size of the dot is increased.
The effect of peripheral circuits on the total pi-electron energies of cyclacenes
Türker, Burhan Lemi (2000-01-01)
Within the framework of the Huckel molecular orbital theory, certain linear models are developed to express the contribution of peripheral circuits of cyclacenes into their total pi -electron energies, which explain why cyclacenes exhibit the cryptoannulenic behavior as their peripheral circuits which are annulenic in character.
A Novel Dual-band Metamaterial Structure
Ekmekci, E.; Turban-Sayan, G. (2009-08-21)
In this study, we propose a novel metamaterial structure having magnetic resonances at two different frequencies and hence providing negative effective permeability values over two separate bandwidths. The introduced metamaterial unit cell topology in this paper is made of a single loop of conducting strip printed over a dielectric substrate with a special winding geometry. Transmission and reflection spectra of this unit cell are simulated using the Ansoft's HFSS software to observe its resonance frequenci...
The spin effects on electronic, optical and mechanical properties of new ferromagnetic chalcopyrite: YMnS2
Yıldız, Buğra; Erkisi, Aytac; Sürücü, Gökhan (2022-05-15)
In this study, magnetic and electronic nature, optical behavior, and elasticity properties of YMnS2 compound have been investigated by using density functional theory (DFT). The compound belongs to the chalcopyrite family having tetragonal crystal structure with 122 (I-42d) space group. Firstly, the optimization process has been done for ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic, and paramagnetic orders to find most stable magnetic order and the formation energies have been determined. Negative formation energies pr...
The use of curl-conforming basis functions for the magnetic-field integral equation
Ergül, Özgür Salih (2006-07-01)
Divergence-conforming Rao-Wilton-Glisson (RWG) functions are commonly used in integral-equation formulations to model the surface current distributions on planar triangulations. In this paper, a novel implementation of the magnetic-field integral equation (MFIE) employing the curl-conforming (n) over tilde x RWG basis and testing functions is introduced for improved current modelling. Implementation details are outlined in the contexts of the method of moments, the fast multipole method, and the multilevel ...
