Agropyron cristatum (L.) Gaertn. is represented by 2 subspecies in Turkey, namely subsp. incanum (Nabelek) Melderis and subsp. pectinatum (M.Bieb.) Tzvelev. This study examines the taxonomic significance of the leaf properties of the taxa of Agropyron Gaertn., comprising diagnostic anatomical features obtained from leaf transverse sections as well as leaf surface micromorphology. Results of the study show that most of the characters, such as the shape of the leaf blades; the size and number of stomata; the density, arrangement, and length of macro hairs; and the presence or absence of midrib and bulliform cells are different in the studied samples of Agropyron cristatum.

Structure development in rapidly solidified Al-Fe-V-Si ribbons
Yaneva, S; Kalkanlı, Ali; Petrov, K; Petrov, R; van Houbaert, IY; Kassabov, S (Elsevier BV, 2004-05-25)
Microcrystalline Al-8.5 wt.% Fe-1.06 wt.% V-2.75 wt.% Si, ribbon was produced by a planar flow casting (PFC) technique. Environmental scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and Mossbauer spectroscopy proved that the polycrystalline alloy consists of a supersaturated Al matrix and quaternary Al-S-Fe-V dispersoids. The observed single exothermal peak in the differential scanning calorimetry curves was ascribed to partial decomposition of the Al supersaturated solid solution. After prolonged heating a...
Covalent immobilization of alpha-amylase onto poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) and poly(styrene-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) microspheres and the effect of Ca2+ ions on the enzyme activity
Tumturk, H; Aksoy, S; Hasırcı, Nesrin (2000-02-01)
alpha-Amylase (1,4-alpha-D-glucan-glucanohydrolase; EC 3.2.1.1, Type VI-B from porcine pancreas, extra pure 29 units mg(-1)) was covalently immobilized on poly (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), p(HEMA), and poly (styrene-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), p(St-HEMA) microspheres, which were activated by using epichlorohydrin (ECH). The properties of the immobilized enzyme were investigated and compared with those of the free enzyme. For the assays carried out at 25 degrees C and pH 6.9, the relative activities were...
Verbascum eskisehirensis sp nov (Scrophulariaceae) from central Anatolia, Turkey
Karaveliogullari, Faik Ahmet; Ocak, Atilla; EKİCİ, MURAT; Cabi, Evren (Wiley, 2009-01-01)
Verbascum eskisehirensis Karavel., Ocak & Ekici sp. nov. (sect. Bothrosperma Murb.) is described and illustrated from Turkey. This new species is confined to B3 Eskisehir in central Anatolia. A morphological comparison is made with the closely related species; V. oreophilum K. Koch and V. pyramidatum M. Bieb. In addition, a cluster analysis was conducted and a distribution map of the new species and the related species is also given.
Cytotoxicity of Hydrazones of Morpholine Bearing Mannich Bases Towards Huh7 and T47D Cell Lines and Their Effects on Mitochondrial Respiration
Kucukoglu, Kaan; GÜL, Halise İnci; GÜL, Mustafa; Atalay, Rengül; Baratli, Yosra; Geny, Bernard (Bentham Science Publishers Ltd., 2016-01-01)
N,N'-bis[1-(substitutedphenyl)-3-(morpholine-4-yl) propylidene] hydrazine dihydrochlorides, N1-N11 were designed and synthesized as cytotoxic agents. These compounds were synthesized by the reaction of 2 moles of 1-( substitutedphenyl)-3-(morpholine-4-yl)-1-propanone hydrochlorides with 1 mole of hydrazine hydrate. The compounds reported here are new, except N1 and N4. The cytotoxicity of the compounds was tested against human hepatoma (Huh7) and breast cancer (T47D) cell lines. 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) was us...
Rediscovery of Scorzonera amasiana Hausskn. and Bornm. - A threatened endemic species in turkey
Karaer, Fergan; Celep, Ferhat (2007-12-01)
Scorzonera amasiana Hausskn. and Bornm. was described from type specimens collected by J.F.N. Bornmueller in 1889 but it was not collected again until 1993, when it was found near Amasya, Turkey. Populations of S. amasiana were quite small at that limited locations and were vulnerable to human impacts. Therefore, suitable conservation strategies should be developed immediately in order to protect the species from probable extinction. Here, an additional three small populations are reported. Brief history, m...
