Self-consistent model of thermal and ionization non-equilibrium spherical microwave discharge
Rafatov, İsmail (IOP Publishing, 2005-07-07)
A self-consistent model of a spherical microwave discharge is presented. The model takes into account thermal and ionization non-equilibrium of the discharge plasma. We adopt a partial local thermodynamic equilibrium model for the plasma in two-temperature approximation. Numerical experiments are carried out for the discharge in argon at atmospheric pressure. Results are presented for the characteristics of the discharge plasma against the external parameters (the power and frequency of the applied electrom...
Self-sustained oscillatory behavior of NO+CH4+O-2 reaction over titania-supported Pd catalysts
OZKAN, UMIT; KUMTHEKAR, MAHESH; Karakaş, Gürkan (Elsevier BV, 1997-10-01)
Self-sustained, regular oscillations were observed in NO + CH4 + O-2 reaction over Pd/TiO2 catalysts at specific temperatures and oxygen concentrations. The oscillatory behavior was investigated combining NO reduction and methane combustion reaction studies with additional catalyst characterization experiments performed under controlled atmospheres. The catalyst was prepared using a wet impregnation technique with Pd-acetate as the precursor for palladium. A fixed-bed, flow reactor system was used to perfor...
Self excitation of induction motors compensated by permanently connected capacitors and recommendations for IEEE Std 141-1993
Ermiş, Muammer; Cadirci, I; Zenginobuz, G; Tezcan, H (2000-10-12)
Self-excitation of induction motors compensated by permanently-connected capacitors is investigated in this paper. Theoretical analyses of self-excitation phenomenon are carried out by using some simplified equivalent circuits, and a hybrid mathematical model in ABC/dq axes, respectively in steady-state, and transient-state. An unusual operating condition about water pumping stations is reported, in which water within the pipeline may drive the motor in the reverse direction at speeds higher than synchronou...
