Mechanical Properties Identification of Viscoelastic/Hyperelastic Materials Using Haptic Device Based Experimental Setup
Tabakci, Alican; Konukseven, Erhan İlhan (2011-01-01)
Mechanical behavior simulation of viscoelastic materials is a difficult task. In order to obtain accurate simulations, material model should be well chosen and hyperelastic characteristics of the viscoelastic materials should also be incorporated in the model. Once the material model is selected the coefficients can be identified with the help of mechanical tests/experiments. The main goal of this study is to optimize material model's coefficients by using the designed indenter test setup results and invers...
Performance Analysis of a Micro-scale Model Helicopter Rotor in Hover Flight
Şahin, Mustafa; Kurtuluş, Dilek Funda (2015-09-12)
This experimental study contains the design, production, test and evaluation of the test processes of a Micro-Scale Rotor Test-Rig. For the study, NACA 0012 airfoil section is selected as a rotor blade without a twist and a taper ratio. The tests cover the thrust and the torque relation with different blade pitch angles and RPM values.
Experimental investigation of the confinement effects in radial-radial swirlers
Kiyici, Firat; Perçin, Mustafa (2021-01-01)
© 2021 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). All rights reserved. This experimental study investigates the effect of confinement ratio (CR) on the flow field of a counterrotating radial-radial swirler. Two-dimensional twocomponent (2D2C) particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements are performed at the mid-plane of the jet. Four different confinement ratios (i.e., 10.4, 23.4, 41.6 and unconfined) are considered at a swirl number of 1.2. The results reveal the presence of a central toroidal recirc...
Utilization of Curve Offsets in Additive Manufacturing
HASELTALAB, Vahid; Yaman, Ulaş; Dölen, Melik (2018-04-25)
Curve offsets arc utilized in different fields of engineering and science. Additive manufacturing, which lately becomes an explicit requirement in manufacturing industry, utilizes curve offsets widely. One of the necessities of offsetting is for scaling which is required if there is shrinkage after the fabrication or if the surface quality of the resulting part is unacceptable. Therefore, some post-processing is indispensable. But the major application of curve offsets in additive manufacturing processes is...
Design optimization of a mixed-flow compressor impeller for a small turbojet engine
Cevik, Mert; Uzol, Oğuz (2011-01-01)
Purpose - This paper aims to present the results of a design optimization study for the impeller of a small mixed-flow compressor. The objective of the optimization is to obtain an impeller geometry that could minimize a cost function based on the specific thrust and the thrust specific fuel consumption of a small turbojet engine.
