In this paper, dosimetric phosphor; lithium tetraborate (Li2B4O7) which has been synthesized and doped with Cu, Ag transition metals using two different synthesis methods (solution-assisted method and microwave-assisted method) and thermoluminescence characteristics of synthesized lithium tetraborate are analyzed. Synthesized Li2B4O7: Cu and Li2B4O7: Cu, Ag phosphors were characterized with X-ray Diffraction, Transmission Electron Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, and Differential Thermal Analysis to determine structural and morphological properties. Thermoluminescence (TL) properties of the lithium tetraborate samples, doped with varied amounts of copper in the range 0.02 wt%- 0.1 wt% and constant amount of silver (0.04 wt%) was added as co-dopant, were studied. it results demonstrate that 0.08% Cu and 0.04% Ag doped lithium tetraborate synthesized with solution-assisted method has the highest dosimetric sensitivity. Kinetic parameters (trap depth and order of kinetic) of this sample were calculated using peak shape, variable heating rate and computer glow curve deconvolution methods.

EVALUATION OF NUSSELT NUMBER FOR A FLOW IN A MICROTUBE USING SECOND-ORDER SLIP MODEL
Cetin, Barbaros; Bayer, Özgür (National Library of Serbia, 2011-01-01)
In this paper. the fully-developed temperature profile and corresponding Nusselt value is determined analytically for a gaseous flow in a microtube with a thermal boundary condition of constant wall heat flux. The flow assumed to be laminar, and hydrodynamically and thermally fully developed. The fluid is assumed to be constant property and incompressible. The effect of rarefaction, viscous dissipation and axial conduction, which are important at the microscale, are included in the analysis. Second-order sl...
Comparison of Efficiency of Two dc-to-ac Converters for Grid Connected Solar Applications
Ertan, Hulusi Bülent; Yilmaz, Arif (2012-05-26)
In this paper; requirements from grid connected photovoltaic (PV) converters are briefly reviewed. Traditional buck-converter, line-frequency transformer topology is taken as reference, which satisfies all of the requirements imposed by standards and the utility. However, this topology employs a bulky transformer. Furthermore, a large electrolytic capacitor is needed in this circuit, which is expensive and also limits the life of the converter. This is not desirable in modern applications where PV module st...
Transport and mechanical properties of self consolidating concrete with high volume fly ash
Sahmaran, Mustafa; Yaman, İsmail Özgür; Tokyay, Mustafa (2009-02-01)
This paper presents the transport. and mechanical properties of self consolidating concrete that contain high percentages of low-lime and high-lime fly ash (FA). Self consolidating concretes (SCC) containing five different contents of high-lime FA and low-lime FA as a replacement of cement (30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 by weight of total cementitious material) are examined. For comparison, a control SCC mixture without any FA was also produced. The fresh properties of the SCCs were observed through, slump flow tim...
Analysis of the Junction Properties of C/GaSe0.5S0.5/C Back-to-Back Schottky-Type Photodetectors
Khanfar, Hazem K.; Qasrawi, Atef F.; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2015-4)
In this paper, a C/GaSe0.5S0.5/C metal-semiconductor-metal photodetector is suggested and described. The device is explored by means of current-voltage and capacitance-voltage (C-V) characteristics under different photoexcitation intensities. It was observed that the design of the back-to-back Schottky device has reduced the dark current of the normal Ag/GaSe0.5S0.5/C Schottky diode by 13 times and increased the photosensitivity from 3.8 to similar to 2.1x10(3). The device exhibited a barrier height of 0.84...
Synthesis, characterizations and investigation of thermoluminescence properties of strontium pyrophosphate doped with metals
Ilkay, L. S.; ÖZBAYOĞLU, GÜLHAN; Yılmaz, Ayşen (2014-11-01)
Strontium pyrophosphate, Sr2P2O7, was synthesized by solid-state synthesis method; the product was co-doped with copper-silver (Cu-Ag), copper-indium (Cu-In) and manganese-praseodymium (Mn-Pr) oxides (CuO, MnO, In2O3, Pr6O11 and AgNO3) by solid-state reaction method. The variation of dopant concentrations was investigated from 0.5 to 15% by weight. In addition to these processes, chemical characterizations of samples and the investigation of thermoluminescence (TLD) properties of strontium pyrophosphate wit...
