THE USE OF CONTINUOUS CENTRIFUGAL GRAVITY CONCENTRATION IN GRINDING CIRCUIT. MODIFIED APPROACH FOR IMPROVED METALLURGICAL PERFORMANCE AND REDUCED GRINDING REQUIREMENTS
Altun, Naci Emre; Klein, Bern (2015-01-01)
The use of centrifugal gravity concentration in the closed-grinding circuit of a gold-containing massive sulphide ore was tested on classifier underflow and overflow. A continuous Knelson CVD6 was retrofitted to the hydrocyclone underflow for recovery of Au and Pb at a coarser feed size. The objective of treatment of overflow was recovering unliberated Au prior to flotation. The tests were performed in actual operating conditions at Nyrstar's Myra Falls Mine. The results of the tests on the cyclone underflo...
The Use of Nonlinear Analyses Tools for the Structural Design of Concrete Dams
Soysal, Berat Feyza; Arıcı, Yalın (2015-06-20)
Given the need to evaluate the older infrastructure for higher design hazards in order to ascertain the performance in multiple sigma events, the use of nonlinear tools for the prediction of the performance of concrete structures is becoming increasingly popular. Smeared crack models are the primary tools to simulate the performance of dams due to such properties as mesh independence and robust behavior, as well as being dependent on only a few parameters discernible by common laboratory tests. In contrast ...
The use of gold and silver nanoparticles for surface enhanced fluorescence (SEF) of Dyes
Öztürk, Tacettin; Volkan, Mürvet; Department of Chemistry (2010)
This study focuses on preparing surface enhanced fluorescence (SEF) substrates for use in the enhancement of the emission signal of rhodamine B and fluorescein dyes. Fluorescence spectroscopy has been widely utilized owing to its high sensitivity. SEF is a process where the interactions of fluorophores with the localized surface plasmons of metal nanoparticles results in fluorescence enhancement, increased photostability and rates of system radiative decay which leads to a decreased lifetime. One of the mos...
The use of microfluidization for the production of xanthan and citrus fiber-based gluten-free corn breads
OZTURK, Oguz Kaan; Mert, Behiç (2018-10-01)
Corn gluten meal is an underutilized byproduct due to its hydrophobic nature although it contains high amount of protein. The primary objectives of this study were to enhance the water holding capacity of this protein-rich byproduct with microfluidization technique and use it in bread-making formulations instead of gluten with the addition of different supplements. The increase in stability, surface area, and consequently water holding capacity with microfluidization resulted in the formation of compatible ...
