Two novel thiazolo[5,4-d] thiazole containing donor-acceptor type alternating copolymers, poly[2-(5-(2-decyl-2H-benzo[d][1,2,3] triazol-4-yl) thiophen-2-yl)-5-(thiophen-2-yl) thiazolo [5,4-d] thiazole] (BTzTh) and poly[2-(5-(2-decyl-2H-benzo[d][1,2,3]-triazol-4-yl) furan-2-yl)-5-(furan-2-yl) thiazolo[5,4-d] thiazole] (BTzFr) were synthesized by Stille coupling polymerization and their electrochemical and electrochromic properties were explored. Electrochemical activities of the spray-casted polymer films were determined by cyclic voltammetry. To evaluate the effect of thiophene and furan moieties on the optical properties of the copolymers, spectroelectrochemistry studies were performed. To examine the switching abilities, copolymer films were subjected to a double potential step chronoamperometry in their local maximum absorptions. Both thiazolothiazolecontaining copolymers showed multichromic properties with low band-gap values 1.7 and 1.9 eV for BTzTh and BTzFr, respectively. The decent electrochromical properties together with solution processability make them important candidates for electrochromic applications. (C) 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Synthesis, characterization and electrochromic properties of a near infrared active conducting polymer of 1,4-di(selenophen-2-yl)-benzene
Aydemir, Kadir; Tarkuc, Simge; Durmus, Asuman; Günbaş, Emrullah Görkem; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2008-04-15)
A novel selenophene-based monomer, 1,4-di(selenophen-2-yl)-benzene (DSB), was synthesized via Stille coupling reaction of 1,4-dibromobenzene and tributyl(2-selenophenyl)stannane. Conducting polymer (PDSB) was prepared electrochemically in the presence of tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate (TBAPF(6)) as the supporting electrolyte in dichloromethane (DCM). The resulting conducting polymer was characterized by Cyclic Voltammetry, Fourier Transform Infrared and Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. Spectroelect...

Atak, Samed; Icli-Ozkut, Merve; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar; CİHANER, ATİLLA (Wiley, 2011-10-15)
Optical and electrochemical properties of regiosymmetric and soluble alkylenedioxyselenophene-based electrochromic polymers, namely poly(3,3-dibutyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-seleno pheno [3,4-b][1,4]dioxephine) (PProDOS-C(4)), poly(3,3-dihexyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-selenopheno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxephine) (PProDOS-C(6)), and poly(3,3-didecyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-selenopheno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxephine) (PProDOS-C(10)), are highlighted. It is noted that these unique polymers have low bandgaps (1.57-1.65 eV), and they are exceptionally stable ...
Electrochemical and Optical Studies of Furan and Thieno[3,2-b]thiophene End Capped Benzotriazole Derivatives
AKBASOGLU, Naime; BALAN, Abidin; BARAN, Derya; Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Wiley, 2010-12-01)
Two new 2-dodecyl benzotriazole (BTz) based donor-acceptor-donor (DAD) type polymers were synthesized and characterized in terms of their electrochemical and spectral properties. These DAD type polymers were synthesized electrochemically from furan or thieno[3,2-b]thiophene (TT) endcapped BTz monomers. Furan based and thieno[3,2-b]thiophene based monomers showed monomer oxidations at 1.15 and 1.25 V, respectively, which eased the formation of conducting polymer films without overoxidation. Cyclic voltammetr...

Sami, Selim; Yıldırım, Erol; Yurtsever, Mine; Yurtsever, Ersin; Yilgor, Emel; Yilgor, Iskender; Wilkes, Garth L. (Elsevier BV, 2014-09-02)
Quantum mechanical calculations (QMC) and dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) siniulations were utilized to understand the nature of the short and long-range hydrogen bonding and its influence on the microphase morphology in segmented polyurethanes and segmented polyureas prepared without chain extenders through the stoichiometric reactions of hydroxy or amine terminated poly(tetramethylene oxide) (PTMO-1000) with 1,4-phenylene diisocyanate (PPDI) and 1,3-phenylene diisocyanate (MPDI). The possibility of lo...
Preparation of a conducting flexible material from silane coupling agent and hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene rubber by hydrolysis and condensation
Karatas, Y; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Tincer, T (Informa UK Limited, 2003-01-01)
Synthesis and characterization of a flexible polymer produced from silane coupling agent (SCA) and hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) were performed. Mechanical properties of chemically and electrochemically prepared conducting composites synthesized from this polymer were investigated. Conductivities of the composites were also measured. Polypyrrole enhanced the mechanical properties of the chemically prepared conducting composite. Doping with iodine greatly changed the conductivity of the composite....
