Optical and electrochemical properties of regiosymmetric and soluble alkylenedioxyselenophene-based electrochromic polymers, namely poly(3,3-dibutyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-seleno pheno [3,4-b][1,4]dioxephine) (PProDOS-C(4)), poly(3,3-dihexyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-selenopheno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxephine) (PProDOS-C(6)), and poly(3,3-didecyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-selenopheno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxephine) (PProDOS-C(10)), are highlighted. It is noted that these unique polymers have low bandgaps (1.57-1.65 eV), and they are exceptionally stable under ambient atmospheric conditions. Polymer films retained 82-97% of their electroactivity after 5000 cycles. The percent transmittance of PProDOS-C(n) (n = 4, 6, 10) films found to be between 55 and 59%. Furthermore, these novel soluble PPro-DOS-C(n) polymers showed electrochromic behavior: a color change form pure blue to highly transparent state in a low switching time (1.0 s) during oxidation with high coloration efficiencies (328-864 cm(2) C(-1)) when compared to their thiophene analogues. Simultaneous and Sequential Synthesis of Polyaniline-g-poly(ethylene glycol) by Combination of Oxidative Polymerization and CuAAC Click Chemistry: A Water-Soluble Instant Response Glucose Biosensor Material
Bicak, Tugrul Cem; Gicevicius, Mindaugas; Gokoglan, Tugba Ceren; Yilmaz, Gorkem; Ramanavicius, Arunas; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Yağcı, Yusuf (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2017-03-14)
A novel approach for the in situ synthesis of conjugated polyaniline-poly(ethylene glycol) graft copolymer (PA-g-PEG) by the combination of oxidative polymerization and copper catalyzed azide alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) click reaction is described. The method pertains to the reduction of the CuBr2 catalyst during the oxidative copolymerization of aniline and aminophenyl propargylether to Cu(I) species, which catalyze the CuAAC reaction between thus formed polyaniline with pendant alkyne groups and independ...
ELECTROINITIATED POLYMERIZATION OF ACRYLAMIDE BY DIRECT ELECTRON-TRANSFER
HACIOGLU, B; Akbulut, Ural; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Wiley, 1989-10-01)
Electroinitiated polymerization of acrylamide was carried out in acetonitrile–tetrabutylammonium fluoroborate by electrolytic reduction of monomer. It was shown by cyclic voltammetry that direct electron transfer from the cathode to the monomer can be achieved in this solvent–electrolyte system. Reduction peak potentials measured by cyclic voltammetry indicated that sodium salts will interfere with such a mechanism. Since the reduction peak potential of sodium salt and dimethylformamide are found to be lowe...
MONOMER REACTIVITY RATIOS OF STYRENE-4-VINYLPYRIDINE COPOLYMERS AT LOW AND HIGH CONVERSIONS
YILMAZ, E; KUCUKYAVUZ, Z (Elsevier BV, 1993-01-01)
Monomer reactivity ratios in free-radical copolymerization of styrene and 4-vinylpyridine monomers at 80-degrees-C in toluene solution under reduced pressure were determined for low and high conversions. Finemann-Ross, Kelen-Tudos, extended Kelen-Tudos and Mayo-Lewis methods were used for this purpose. The most reliable method was found to be the extended Kelen-Tudos method. By the use of this method, for conversions below 20%, monomer reactivity values of 0.700 +/- 0.005 and 0.335 +/- 0.001 were calculated...
GLASS-TRANSITION, CRYSTALLIZATION AND THERMOREVERSIBLE GELATION IN TERNARY PPO SOLUTIONS - RELATIONSHIP TO ASYMMETRIC MEMBRANE FORMATION
BURGHARDT, WR; Yılmaz, Levent; MCHUGH, AJ (Elsevier BV, 1987-11-01)
The phase equilibrium behaviour of PPO (poly 2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) in mixtures of trichloroethylene with non-solvents ethanol, methanol or octanol has been studied. Attention has been given to the phenomena of glass transition, crystallization and thermoreversible gelation. The effect of solvent-non-solvent mixtures on the glass transition temperature depression was studied using differential scanning calorimetry (d.s.c.) and found to be well described by a ternary form of the Kelley-Bueche equa...
DIPOLE-MOMENTS OF ISOTACTIC AND ATACTIC POLY(PROPYLENE OXIDE) SAMPLES
KUCUKYAVUZ, Z; ALYURUK, K; AHMAD, AM (Elsevier BV, 1991-01-01)
Dipole moments of poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) samples with different tacticities were determined from dielectric constant and refractive index increment measurements, which were performed on dilute toluene and isooctane solutions. In contrast to previous reports, both refractive index increments and the dipole moment ratios showed a marked dependence on the tacticities of the samples. The dipole moment ratios of isotactic samples were greater than unity and decreased with increasing sequence concentration...
