Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) films were irradiated under vacuum with 3 keV Argon ions (Ar+) and fluences ranging from 0.5 x 10(18) to 2 x 10(18) ions/cm(2). Ion induced PTFE surface modifications of structural, morphological and wettability nature were studied by means of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy and force spectroscopy, and contact angle measurements. FTIR analysis indicated defluorination of PTFE due to the rupture of C-C and C-F bonds. The values of droplet contact angle of the irradiated samples decreased gradually with the increasing ion flux, and were found to be very sensitive to the environmental humidity under which the measurements were made. The experimental results show that the surface chemical bond, morphology, and wettability of irradiated PTFE samples depend closely on the argon ion flux.

Spectroscopy of the ODD-ODD nucleus 76As and its supersymmetric description
Hoyler, F.; Jolie, J.; Colvin, G.G.; Börner, H.G.; Schreckenbach, K.; Van Isacker, P.; Fettweis, P.; Göktürk, H.; Dehaes, J.C.; Casten, R.F.; Warner, D.D.; Bruce, A.M. (Elsevier BV, 1990)
Gamma rays and conversion electrons following thermal-neutron capture in 75As have been measured using the Ge pair spectrometer PN4, the bent crystal spectrometers GAMS and the β-spectrometer BILL at the ILL. Coincident γ-rays were recorded at the CEN/SCK Mol, and average resonance capture at En = 2 and 24 keV has been studied at the HFBR of BNL. The neutron binding energy in 76As was determined to be 7328.498 ± 0.075 keV. The resulting level scheme for 76As greatly improves the knowledge on this odd-odd nu...
Measurement of the t(t)over-bar production cross section in pp collisions at root s=8 TeV in dilepton final states containing one tau lepton
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2014-12-01)
The top-quark pair production cross section is measured in final states with one electron or muon and one hadronically decaying tau lepton from the process t (t) over bar -> (l nu(l))(tau nu(tau))b (b) over bar, where l = e, mu. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.6 fb(-1) collected with the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at root s = 8 TeV. The measured cross section sigma(t (t) over bar) = 257 +/- 3 (stat) +/- 24 (syst) +/- 7 (lumi) pb, assuming a top-quark mass of 172.5...
Impact of composition modification induced by ion beam Coulomb-drag effects on the nanoindentation hardness of HT9
Gigax, Jonathan G.; Kim, Hyosim; Aydoğan Güngör, Eda; Price, L. M.; Wang, X.; Maloy, S. A.; Garner, F. A.; Shao, L. (Elsevier BV, 2019-04-01)
Accelerator-based ion irradiation is commonly used to simulate neutron damage, in lieu of neutron irradiation due to limited availability of fast flux facilities and little to no activation of the samples. Neutron atypical effects, however, must be recognized and their impact minimized in order to achieve the most accurate microstructural evolution under ion bombardment. Mechanical property changes, which arise from the synergy of numerous radiation-induced changes, are especially susceptible to these neutr...
Measurement of normalized differential t(t)over-bar cross sections in the dilepton channel from pp collisions at root s=13 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2018-04-01)
Normalized differential cross sections for top quark pair production are measured in the dilepton (e(+)e(-), mu(+)mu(-), and mu(-/+),e(+/-)) decay channels in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The measurements are performed with data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.1 fb(-1) using the CMS detector at the LHC. The cross sections are measured differentially as a function of the kinematic properties of the leptons, jets from bottom quark hadronization, top quarks, and...
Variation of photoluminescence from Si nanostructures in SiO2 matrix with Si+ post implantation
Serincan, U.; Kulakci, M.; Turan, Raşit; Foss, S.; Finstad, T. G. (Elsevier BV, 2007-01-01)
Si nanoclusters were formed by Si-28 ion implantation into SiO2 matrix and subsequently annealed at 1050 degrees C for 2 h under N-2 ambient. The photoluminescence (PL) characteristics depend on the Si-28 fluence. The PL signals seen at around 775 mn and 825 nm are assigned to light emitting centers connected to formation of Si clusters, for 5 x 10(16) cm(-2) and 1 x 10(17) cm(-2) Si-28 fluences, respectively. Defect-related light emission observed at around 625 nm emerges only in the case of high implantat...
