This paper proposes a new lane keeping system (LKS) based on a weighted preview measurement. The paper first identifies shortcomings of existing methods that use the sole measurement of lateral displacement error at a preview distance or at the center of gravity. Then, the novel idea of computing a weighted average of both measurements is proposed. The stability of the resulting LKS is analyzed and the improved performance of the resulting LKS is supported by simulation experiments.

A lane detection algorithm based on reliable lane markings
Yeniaydın, Yasin; Schmidt, Klaus Verner (2018-05-05)
This paper proposes a robust and effective vision-based lane detection approach. First, two binary images are obtained from the region of interest of gray-scale images. The obtained binary images are merged by a novel neighborhood AND operator and then transformed to a bird's eye view (BEV) via inverse perspective mapping. Then, gaussian probability density functions are fit to the left and right regions of a histogram image acquired from the BEV. Finally, a polynomial lane model is estimated from the ident...
A MEMS based drug effect analysis system utilizing droplet microfluidics
Özkan, Metin Dündar; Külah, Haluk; Yıldırım, Ender; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2018)
This thesis proposes a fully integrated lab-on-a-chip system designed for drug effect analysis based on the droplet microfluidics. It is mainly designed for screening multi-drug responses of cells in an automated operation. The distinguished feature of the drug screening system is that it includes droplet-based single cell encapsulation. The system includes two main subsystems which are parylene-based and normally closed electrostatic microvalves and droplet generation system. The integration of microvalves...
A Two stage approach for hybrid-assembly line design
Şimşek, Doğukan; Kırca, Ömer; Department of Industrial Engineering (2014)
The aim of the study is to propose an approach for hybrid assembly line design in the make-to-order and mixed-model environment. In this context, the main goal is to reduce lead-time, which is one of the key concepts of competitive markets. A systematic approach was employed for designing of hybrid assembly line in order to achieve the goal. The line is divided into two parts in a hybrid system: while the first part of the line works as a closed-loop system for instant replenishment of Constant Work in Prog...
An infrared FPA readout circuit based on Current Mirroring Integration
Külah, Haluk; Akın, Tayfun (1999-01-01)
This paper reports an improved Current Mirroring Integration (CMI) unit cell and a new readout structure based on it. The new structure combines the benefits of the current mirroring direct injection and switch current integration structures, satisfying the requirements for the high resolution and high performance IR FPA readouts. The improved CMI readout circuit provides very high injection efficiency, almost-zero detector bias, and large dynamic range, while it can be implemented in a small pixel area. th...
A hybrid video recommendation system based on a graph-based algorithm
Öztürk, Gizem; Çiçekli, Fehime Nihan; Department of Computer Engineering (2010)
This thesis proposes the design, development and evaluation of a hybrid video recommendation system. The proposed hybrid video recommendation system is based on a graph algorithm called Adsorption. Adsorption is a collaborative filtering algorithm in which relations between users are used to make recommendations. Adsorption is used to generate the base recommendation list. In order to overcome the problems that occur in pure collaborative system, content based filtering is injected. Content based filtering ...
