Neutron background measurements with a hybrid neutron detector at the Kuo-Sheng Reactor Neutrino Laboratory
Sonay, A.; et. al. (2018-08-02)
We report in situ neutron background measurements at the Kuo-Sheng Reactor Neutrino Laboratory (KSNL) by a hybrid neutron detector (HND) with a data size of 33.8 days under shielding configurations identical to those used during the neutrino physics data taking. The HND consists of BC-501A liquid and BC-702 phosphor powder scintillation neutron detectors, which are sensitive to both fast and thermal neutrons, respectively. Neutron-induced events for the two channels are identified and differentiated by puls...
Neutron plus Gamma response of undoped and Dy doped MgB4O7 thermoluminescence dosimeter
Iflazoglu, S.; Yılmaz, Ayşen; Kafadar, Vural Emir; TOPAKSU, MUSTAFA; Yazici, A. N. (2019-05-01)
Thermoluminescence properties of undoped and Dy doped MgB4O7 compounds were studied with the irradiation of Cf-252 source. The TL kinetic parameters of MgB4O7: Dy were studied by computer glow curve deconvolution (CGCD) method. The glow curve structures of 1% Dy doped magnesium tetraborate compound consists of at least five glow peaks with a main dosimetric peak at about 220 degrees C. The highest sensitivity which is approximately 1.90 and 1.47 times higher than that of TLD-600 and TLD-700 was found for Mg...
Neutron star dynamics, braking indices and energy dissipation
Alpar, MA (1998-01-01)
Models of pulsar glitches and postglich relaxation are reviewed. Implications for braking indices due to internal torques in the neutron star, and energy dissipation by internal torques are discussed. AU recent observations of pulsars with large (Vela pulsar like) glitches and second derivatives are seen to fit with the same glitch dynamics that the Vela pulsar exhibits. (C)1998 COSPAR.
