In this paper, we propose a blind watermarking method where watermark is chosen as the hologram of the signal to be embedded. In the proposed approach the quantized phase of the hologram is embedded into an image using quantization index modulation (QIM). The robustness of the proposed technique is tested against several attacks such as filtering, compression, occlusion and cropping. Also the effects of quantization of the hologram on the reconstruction quality are demonstrated. © (2006) COPYRIGHT Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE). Quantization index modulation-based image watermarking using digital holography
Okman, O. Erman; Akar, Gözde (The Optical Society, 2007-01-01)
We propose a blind watermarking method where the watermark is a hologram itself. In the proposed approach, the quantized phase of the hologram is embedded into the wavelet-transformed host image using quantization index modulation. In the detection stage, wavelet transform of the watermarked image followed by a minimum distance decoder is used. The proposed method is blind since it requires only information about the quantizers and the parameters of the hologram recording process. The robustness of the prop...
Phase-sensitive detection of motor fault signatures in the presence of noise
Akin, Bilal; Orguner, Umut; Toliyat, Hamid A.; Rayner, Mark (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2008-06-01)
In this paper, a digital signal processor-based phase-sensitive motor fault signature detection technique is presented. The implemented method has a powerful line current noise suppression capability while detecting the fault signatures. Because the line current of inverter-driven motors involve low-order harmonies, high-frequency switching disturbances, and the noise generated by harsh industrial environment, the real-time fault analyses yield erroneous or fluctuating fault signatures. This situation becom...
WATERMARKING FOR DEPTH-IMAGE-BASED RENDERING
Halici, Eren; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın (2009-11-10)
In this paper, a novel watermarking method for depth-image-based rendering methods employed in free viewpoint television systems is proposed. The proposed method uses a correlation-based approach; where a watermark pattern is warped for each different view of the multi-view source video, and embedded to the texture maps of those views in spatial domain. First, the projection matrix of the 2D rendered image is estimated; then, using this matrix, a rendered watermark is formed by warping the original watermar...
Steganography through perspective invariance
Yaşaroğlu, Yağız; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2012)
A novel approach for watermarking of 3D models is introduced, for which data is embedded into 3D models, whereas extracted from their projected 2D visual or 2D-plus-depth representations. Such a watermarking system is valuable, since most of the 3D content is being consumed as 2D visual data. Apart from the efficiency of embedding data into 3D models before generation of arbitrary 2D projections, in some use cases, such as free viewpoint video or computer games, 2D content has to be rendered at the client, ...
Oblivious video watermaking using temporal sensitivity of HVS
Koz, A; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın (2004-04-30)
An oblivious video watermarking method is presented based on the temporal sensitivity of Human Visual System (HVS). The method exploits the temporal contrast thresholds of HVS to determine the maximum strength of watermark, which still gives imperceptible distortion after watermark insertion. Compared to other approaches in the literature, the method guarantees to avoid flickering problem in the watermarked video and gives better robustness results to video distortions, such as additive Gaussian noise, H.26...
