Optimisation of dragline inspection intervals with time-counter algorithm

2017-01-01
This research study proposed a novel algorithm, called time-counter, to optimise inspection intervals of production systems. The developed algorithm was applied to two active draglines. The algorithm evaluated random uptime/downtime characteristics of the draglines and the planned dragline halts in the mine. Physical and random non-physical costs were included and annual maintenance cost minimisation was achieved. Dragline-1 and Dragline-2 inspection intervals were optimised as 232 and 184 h and their maintenance costs were reduced by 5.9 and 6.2% compared to the current interval, respectively. This study is the first initiative in cost-effective inspection interval optimisation of a mining machinery.

Integrated nonlinear regression analysis of tracer and well test data
Akın, Serhat (Elsevier BV, 2003-08-01)
One frequent observation from conventional pressure transient test analysis is that field data match mathematical models derived for homogeneous systems. This observation suggests that pressure data as presently interpreted may not contain details concerning certain reservoir heterogeneities. On the other hand, tracer tests may be more sensitive to heterogeneous elements present in the reservoir because of the convective nature of the flow test. In this study, a possible improvement of conventional pressure...
Well test model identification by artificial neural networks
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2000-01-01)
The aim of this research is to investigate the performance of artificial neural networks computing technology, to identify preliminary well test interpretation model based on derivative plot. The approach is based on training the neural network simulator uses back-propagation as the learning algorithm for a predefined range of analytically generated well test response. The trained network is then requested to identify the well test identification model for test data, which is not used during training sessio...
Optimization of time-cost-resource trade-off problems in project scheduling using meta-heuristic algorithms
Bettemir, Önder Halis; Sönmez, Rifat; Department of Civil Engineering (2009)
In this thesis, meta-heuristic algorithms are developed to obtain optimum or near optimum solutions for the time-cost-resource trade-off and resource leveling problems in project scheduling. Time cost trade-off, resource leveling, single-mode resource constrained project scheduling, multi-mode resource constrained project scheduling and resource constrained time cost trade-off problems are analyzed. Genetic algorithm simulated annealing, quantum simulated annealing, memetic algorithm, variable neighborhood ...
Stability analysis of constraints in flexible multibody systems dynamics
İder, Sıtkı Kemal (Elsevier BV, 1990-1)
Automated algorithms for the dynamic analysis and simulation of constrained multibody systems assume that the constraint equations are linearly independent. During the motion, when the system is at a singular configuration, the constraint Jacobian matrix possesses less than full rank and hence it results in singularities. This occurs when the direction of a constraint coincides with the direction of the lost degree of freedom. In this paper the constraint equations for deformable bodies are modified for use...
Parallel computing in linear mixed models
Gökalp Yavuz, Fulya (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2020-09-01)
In this study, we propose a parallel programming method for linear mixed models (LMM) generated from big data. A commonly used algorithm, expectation maximization (EM), is preferred for its use of maximum likelihood estimations, as the estimations are stable and simple. However, EM has a high computation cost. In our proposed method, we use a divide and recombine to split the data into smaller subsets, running the algorithm steps in parallel on multiple local cores and combining the results. The proposed me...
