We determine Legendrian surgery diagrams for the canonical contact structures of links of rational surface singularities that are also small Seifert fibered 3-manifolds. Moreover, we describe an infinite family of Milnor fillable contact 3-manifolds so that, for each member of this family, the Milnor genus and Milnor norm are strictly greater than the support genus and support norm of the canonical contact structure. For some of these contact structures we construct supporting Milnor open books.

OPEN BOOK DECOMPOSITIONS OF LINKS OF SIMPLE SURFACE SINGULARITIES
Bhupal, Mohan Lal (2009-12-01)
We describe open book decompositions of links of simple surface singularities that support the corresponding unique Milnor fillable contact structures. The open books we describe are isotopic to Milnor open books.
Computation of external flow around rotating bodies
Gönç, L. Oktay; Aksel, Mehmet Haluk; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2005)
A three-dimensional, parallel, finite volume solver which uses Roe's upwind flux differencing scheme for spatial and Runge-Kutta explicit multistage time stepping scheme for temporal discretization on unstructured meshes is developed for the unsteady solution of external viscous flow around rotating bodies. The main aim of this study is to evaluate the aerodynamic dynamic stability derivative coefficients for rotating missile configurations. Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) formulation is adapted to the ...
All timelike supersymmetric solutions of three-dimensional half-maximal supergravity
DEĞER, NİHAT SADIK; Moutsopoulos, George; Samtleben, Henning; Sarıoğlu, Bahtiyar Özgür (2015-06-22)
We first classify all supersymmetric solutions of the 3-dimensional half-maximal ungauged supergravity that possess a timelike Killing vector by considering their identification under the complexification of the local symmetry of the theory. It is found that only solutions that preserve 16/2(n), 1 <= n <= 3 real supersymmetries are allowed. We then classify supersymmetric solutions under the real local symmetry of the theory and we are able to solve the equations of motion for all of them. It is shown that ...
WEIGHTED HOMOGENEOUS SINGULARITIES AND RATIONAL HOMOLOGY DISK SMOOTHINGS
Bhupal, Mohan Lal (2011-10-01)
We classify the resolution graphs of weighted homogeneous surface singularities which admit rational homology disk smoothings. The nonexistence of rational homology disk smoothings is shown by symplectic geometric methods, while the existence is verified via smoothings of negative weight.
Shape models based on elliptic PDES, associated energies, and their applications in 2D and 3D
Gençtav, Aslı; Tarı, Zehra Sibel; Can, Tolga; Department of Computer Engineering (2018)
By using an elliptic PDE or its modifications, we develop implicit shape representations and demonstrate their two- and three-dimensional applications. In the first part of the thesis, we present a novel shape characterization field that provides a local measure of roundness at each shape point. The field is computed by comparing the solution of the elliptic PDE on the shape domain and the solution of the same PDE on the reference disk. We demonstrate its potential via illustrative applications including gl...
