A spectrometer was built to examine the interstellar medium (ISM) using the hydrogen Balmer a line. It is called Dual Etalon Fabry-Perot Optical Spectrometer (DEFPOS). DEFPOS will be coupled to coude exit of the 150 cm telescope (RTT150) installed at TUBITAK National Observatory (TUG). DEFPOS was ready for observations about two years ago, but work was still continuing on the RTT150 coude exit alignment. So we have started observing HII regions with DEFPOS without the RTT150. We present here some characteristics of the instrument and some of the results obtained.

Very high energy gamma rays from the composite SNR G0.9+0.1
Aharonian, F; et. al. (EDP Sciences, 2005-03-01)
Very high energy (> 100 GeV) gamma-ray emission has been detected for the first time from the composite supernova remnant G0.9+ 0.1 using the HESS instrument. The source is detected with a significance of approximate to 13sigma, and a photon flux above 200 GeV of ( 5.7 +/- 0.7(stat) +/- 1.2(sys)) x 10(-12) cm(-2) s(-1), making it one of the weakest sources ever detected at TeV energies. The photon spectrum is compatible with a power law ( dN/dE proportional to E-Gamma) with photon index Gamma = 2.40 +/- 0.1...
DEFPOS H alpha observations of HII regions
Aksaker, N.; ŞAHAN, MUHİTTİN; Yegingil, I.; EMRAHOĞLU, NURİ (Elsevier BV, 2011-12-01)
We present H alpha emission line measurements of northern bright HII regions selected from the Sharpless (1959) catalog near the Galactic plane (b <= +/- 6 degrees). A total of 10 HII regions were observed with DEFPOS (Dual Etalon Fabry-Perot Optical Spectrometer) system at the f/48 Coude focus of 150 cm RT1150 telescope located at TUBITAK National Observatory (TUG) in Antalya/Turkey. The intensities, the local standard of rest (LSR) velocities (V-LSR), and the linewidths (Full Width Half Maximum: FWHM) of ...
SOLAR MODELS WITH STRONG TURBULENCE
CIVELEK, R; KIZILOGLU, N (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1993-04-01)
A series of evolutionary models for the Sun were constructed using the strong turbulence model of the variable mixing-length theory (AMLT) of Canuto (1990). The present values of the solar model were obtained by an initial composition X = 0.754, Z = 0.019, and alpha(x) = 1.1. The physical variables which were obtained by applying the strong turbulence case of AMLT were similar to those of weak turbulence model (Kiziloglu and Civelek, 1992) if we focused on the fitting of present solar radius and luminosity.
Radial vibrations in a 5 M⊙ double-shell burning hydrogen-helium star
Kırbıyık, Hayrettin (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1990-6)
A model of 5M ⊙ hydrogen-helium star with no metals has been considered. The properties of the adiabatic oscillations were obtained, and the vibrational instability of the model has been investigated. The model is a double-shell burning star. Calculations were done for the fundamental mode as well as the first and the second harmonics. The model has been found vibrationally unstable against radial adiabatic pulsations.
Frequency-resolved spectroscopy of XB1323-619 using XMM-Newton data: detection of a reflection region in the disc
Balman, Şölen (Oxford University Press (OUP), 2010-09-21)
We present the frequency-resolved energy spectra (FRS) of the low-mass X-ray binary dipper XB1323-619 during persistent emission in four different frequency bands using an archival XMM-Newton observation. FRS method helps to probe the inner zones of an accretion disc. XB1323-619 is an Atoll source and a type-I burster. We find that the FRS is well described by a single blackbody component with kT in a range 1.0-1.4 keV responsible for the source variability in the frequency ranges of 0.002-0.04 and 0.07-0.3...
