Message Scheduling for the FlexRay Protocol: The Static Segment
Schmidt, Klaus Verner; Schmidt, Şenan Ece (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2009-06-01)
In recent years, time-triggered communication protocols have been developed to support time-critical applications for in-vehicle communication. In this respect, the FlexRay protocol is likely to become the de facto standard. In this paper, we investigate the scheduling problem of periodic signals in the static segment of FlexRay. We identify and solve two subproblems and introduce associated performance metrics: 1) The signals have to be packed into equal-size messages to obey the restrictions of the FlexRa...
Message Scheduling for the FlexRay Protocol: The Dynamic Segment
Schmidt, Şenan Ece; Schmidt, Klaus Verner (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2009-06-01)
The FlexRay communication protocol is expected to be the de facto standard for high-speed, in-vehicle communication. In this paper, we formally investigate the scheduling problem for the dynamic segment (DS) of FlexRay. We take the bounds on the generation times and the timing requirements of the signals into consideration to propose a reservation-based scheduling approach that preserves the flexible medium access of the DS. To obtain efficient schedules, we formulate a nonlinear integer program- ming probl...
Controller aggregation for distributed discrete-event supervisors on a shared-medium network
Schmidt, Klaus Verner (null; 2009-12-01)
In our previous work, a communication protocol for the reliable communication of discrete event supervisors that are implemented on physically distinct controller devices on a shared-medium network was developed. Here, the required data exchange is captured by communication models that are algorithmically computed from an underlying hierarchical and decentralized supervisor synthesis. These communication models are particularly efficient if all synthesized supervisors are implemented on distinct controller ...
Modular Verification of Asynchronous Service Interactions Using Behavioral Interfaces
Betin Can, Aysu; Bultan, Tevfik (2013-04-01)
A crucial problem in service oriented computing is the specification and analysis of interactions among multiple peers that communicate via messages. We propose a design pattern that enables the specification of behavioral interfaces acting as communication contracts between peers. This “peer controller pattern” provides a modular, assume-guarantee style verification strategy that consists of three phases. 1) Each individual peer is statically verified for conformance to its part of the contract, using soft...
Diversity Analysis of Hierarchical Modulation in Cooperative Communication
Yalcin, Ahmet Zahid; Yüksel Turgut, Ayşe Melda (2014-01-01)
In cooperative communication systems, hierarchical modulation is used to increase systems robustness and to send different information flows simultaneously. In cooperative communication systems which use hierarchical modulation, error propagation is the most important problem that prevents achieving full diversity gain. Thresholds that depend on the signal to noise ratio (SNR) value between the source and the relay can be used to mitigate error propagation. If the instantaneous SNR between the source and th...
