The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility is analyzed at some constant pressures by a power-law formula using the experimental data from the literature for the alpha - beta and beta - gamma transitions in oxygen. A weak discontinuous (nearly continuous) transition occurring from the a to the beta phase, becomes more discontinuous (weakly first order) for the beta - gamma transition as observed experimentally, which can be explained in terms of the critical exponents deduced from our analysis.

Analysis of the Magnetic Susceptibility as a Function of Temperature for the alpha, beta and gamma Phases of Oxygen
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (2017-03-01)
We analyse the magnetic susceptibility chi as a function of temperature (zero pressure) for the transitions of alpha- beta, beta- gamma and gamma-liquid below and above the transition temperatures for oxygen according to a power-law formula. The observed data are used from the literature, and the values of the critical exponents for the magnetic susceptibility are deduced close to the phase transitions in oxygen. Our exponent values give a logarithmic singularity for the magnetic susceptibility chi in the v...
Analysis of the Magnetization as a Function of the Magnetic Field at the Transition Temperature for La0.6Nd0.4Mn2Si2
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit; Emre, B.; Acet, M. (2015-03-01)
We analyze in this study our experimental data for the magnetization (M) as a function of the magnetic field (H) at various constant temperatures for the multilayer structure of La Nd-0.6 Mn-0.4 Si-2 (2) close to the ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic transitions. This analysis is performed at the transition temperatures (T (c)) for the M vs. H- H (c) (H (c) is the critical field) according to a power-law formula above and below H (c), and the values of the critical isotherm delta are deduced for La Nd-0.6 Mn-...
Calculation of the thermodynamic quantities from the Raman frequency shifts and the Pippard relations for the alpha, -alpha and alpha ' phases of oxygen
Tari, O.; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (2018-01-01)
Thermodynamic quantities such as the isothermal compressibility, thermal expansion and the difference in the specific heat are calculated as a function of pressure (T=10 K) for the alpha,-alpha and alpha ' phases of oxygen using the observed Raman frequencies of the two librons and one vibron from the literature through the mode Gruneisen parameter for this molecular solid. Calculated thermodynamic quantities decrease with increasing pressure with some discrepancies due to the different pressure - induced R...
Analysis of the IR-Raman Modes and the Heat Capacity Near the α-Inc-β Transitions in Quartz
Günay, E.; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit; Karacali, H.; Ateş, S. (2021-01-01)
This study gives our analysis for the temperature dependence of the infrared frequency and the integrated intensity of the 695 cm−1 mode near the α–β transition at 847.5 K and the temperature dependence of the Raman scattering cross section of the 355 cm−1 mode near the β-INC (incommensurate) transition which occurs within a small temperature (∼1.3 K) interval in relation to the order parameter in quartz. Both analyses are performed according to a power–law formula for the order parameter (Formula presented...
Analysis of the Raman intensities near the phase transitions in ammonium halides
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Elsevier BV, 2008-12-01)
This study concentrates on the temperature dependence of the Raman intensities for the lattice modes in ammonium halides (NH4Cl and NH4Br) close to phase transitions, We predict their intensities using the results of a shell model for the Raman polarizability within the framework of an Ising pseudospin-phonon coupled model.
