Pervaporation of organic/water mixtures through B-ZSM-5 zeolite membranes on monolith supports
Bowen, TC; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Falconer, JL; Noble, RD (Elsevier BV, 2003-04-15)
High-quality, boron-substituted ZSM-5 zeolite membranes were prepared on Al2O3-coated SiC multi-channel monolith supports. Monoliths have larger surface to volume ratios than tubular supports and are more practical for large-scale applications. Two types of supports with 66 channels (2 mm x 2 mm, 10.6 cm(2) surface area cm(-3)) and 22 channels (4 mm x 4 mm, 7.2 cm(2) cm(-3)) were used. The membranes effectively removed alcohols and acetone from 5 wt.% organic/water binary feeds by pervaporation over a tempe...
Permeabilities of some chemicals through polymeric membranes for controlled release applications

PERMEABILITY OF PHEMA MEMBRANES PREPARED BY PHOTOINITIATION
ARICA, MY; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (1993-01-01)
Poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) membranes were prepared in aqueous media with different ions and ionic strengths. The enzyme glucose oxidase was incorporated into some of these membranes. It was found that membrane water contents and ionic strengths have a linear relationship as long as the salt is not changed. When the salt was varied, only a relationship between salt concentration and water content could be observed. The membrane permeabilities were all found to be of the same order (10(-8) cm2 s-1) but...
Pervaporation of organic/water mixtures by MFI type zeolite membranes synthesized in a flow system
Dede, Özlem; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Department of Chemical Engineering (2007)
Zeolite membrane synthesis is conventionally carried out in batch systems. Recently, several attempts have been performed to synthesize zeolite membranes in flow systems which can allow preparation of membranes with large specific surface areas. Membranes synthesized in the recirculating flow system had comparable N2/SF6 and n- C4H10/i-C4H10 ideal selectivities with the membranes prepared in the batch system, indicating that good quality membranes can be produced by this method. The objective of this study ...
Permeability enhancement during gold mineralization Evidences from Kestanelik epithermal vein system NW Turkey
Gülyüz, Nilay; Shipton, Zoe; Kuşcu, İlkay; Lord, Richard; Gladwell, David; Kaymakcı, Nuretdin (2016-04-22)
The most favourable and principal mineral deposition mechanism in low sulphidation epithermal systems is boiling. Mineralization in these systems occurs dominantly as veins and stockworks; therefore, structures play major role in the localization of epithermal fluid flow. Epithermal fluids rise from depth along structural conduits at high temperatures under enough pressure to prevent boiling. When the pressure drops suddenly (for instance, through faulting or any fracturing), boiling occurs, and CO 2 and H2...
