A conducting polymer of diphenyldithieno[3,2-b;2',3'-d]thiophene (DPhDTT) was synthesized via potentiodynamic method in dichloromethane (DCM)/acetonitrile (AN) (1:9(v/v))-NaClO4/LiClO4 (0.1:0.1 M) solvent-electrolyte couple. Characterizations of the resulting homopolymer were performed by cyclic voltarnmetry (CV), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and UV-Vis spectroscopy. Moreover, the spectroelectrochemical and electrochromic properties of the homopolymer films were investigated. Consequently, P(DPhDTT)/PEDOT device was constructed and their characteristics were examined in detail. A potential range of 0.0-2.0 V was found to be suitable for operating the P(DPhDTT)/PEDOT device between yellow and blue colors. The device reveals good open circuit memory and stability.

A ferrocene functionalized multichromic p and n dopable donor-acceptor-donor type conjugated polymer
Ozdemir, Serife; BALAN, Abidin; BARAN, Derya; Doğan, Özdemir; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2010-10-01)
Ferrocene substituted donor-acceptor-donor type polymer; poly(5,8-bis(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-5-yl)-2-(naphthalen-2-yl)-3-ferrocenyl-4a,8a-dihydroquinoxaline) (PDEFNQ) was synthesized and its electrochromic properties were investigated. Cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochemistry studies for PDEFNQ showed that it is a multichromic green to transmissive polymer with high tendency to be both p and n doped. PDEFNQ is foreseen as a promising candidate for various applications.
Molecular architecture: Another plausible pathway toward a low band gap polymer
Tarkuc, Simge; Udum, Yasemin Arslan; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2010-05-01)
A donor-acceptor-donor pi-conjugated monomer (10,13-bis(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-5-yl)dibenzo[a,c]phenazine (PHED)) composed of bi-EDOT and dibenzo[a,c]phenazine repeat units was synthesized to examine the role of acceptor structure on the electronic and optoelectronic properties of the polymer. The spectroelectrochemical analysis showed that the introduction of electron-accepting unit results in a shift in the onset of the pi-pi* transition towards longer wavelengths. The optical band gap (Eg) f...
Synthesis and characterization of optical, electrochemical and photovoltaic properties of selenophene bearing benzodithiophene based alternating polymers
Atli, Gulten Ozkul; Alemdar, Eda; Taşkaya Aslan, Sultan; Udum, Yasemin Arslan; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Çırpan, Ali (Elsevier BV, 2020-04-01)
In this study two donor-acceptor type alternating polymers containing electron-deficient benzotriazole moiety and electron-rich selenophene bearing benzodithiophene moiety; P1 and P2, were designed and synthesized via Stille polymerization. Moreover, the effects of thiophene and selenophene as pi-bridges on optical, electrochemical and optoelectronic features of polymers were examined. The optical band gap values of P1 and P2 were found as 1.47 eV and 1.72 eV, respectively. Cyclic voltammetry studies were p...
Dual type complementary colored polymer electrochromic devices utilized by 3-ester substituted thiophenes
CAMURLU, P; Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2004-10-15)
Dual type polymer electrochromic devices (ECDs) based on potentiodynamically coated films of octanoic acid 2-thiophen-3-yl-ethyl ester (OTE), decanedioic acid bis-(2-thiophen-3-yl-ethyl) ester (DATE) and ethylene dioxythiophene (EDOT) were constructed. The former two function as anodically coloring layers and the latter as a cathodically coloring layer in between tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TBAFB) poly(methylmethacrylate) gel media. The spectroelectrochemistry, switching ability and stability of t...
Coaxial silver nanowire network core molybdenum oxide shell supercapacitor electrodes
Yuksel, Recep; Coskun, Sahin; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah (Elsevier BV, 2016-03-01)
We present a new hybrid material composed of molybdenum (IV) oxide (MoO2) shell on highly conducting silver nanowire (Ag NW) core in the network form for the realization of coaxial Ag NW/MoO2 nanocomposite supercapacitor electrodes. Ag NWs were simply spray coated onto glass substrates to form conductive networks and conformal MoO2 layer was electrodeposited onto the Ag NW network to create binder-free coaxial supercapacitor electrodes. Combination of Ag NWs and pseudocapacitive MoO2 generated an enhanced e...
