We directly compare relative carrier mobilities in semiconducting organic polymer films measured using noncontact optical pump terahertz (THz) probe spectroscopy to those reported in electrical device studies. Relative transient signal amplitude measurements of photoinjected carrier mobility as a function of poly-3-hexylthiophene (P3HT) molecular weight correlate directly with electrical device test values, indicating that the THz method shows promise as a rapid material screening approach. We also present measurements on P3HT conducting films as a function of structural regularity, dispersing solvent, addition of C-60 electron traps, sample temperature, and other growth parameters relevant to device manufacture. Photoconductivity of P3HT films measured by time-resolved THz spectroscopy
Esentürk, Okan; Heilweil, Edwin J. (Optical Society of America (OSA); 2007-01-01)
Photoconductivities of P3HT polymer films varying in molecular weight were directly measured and compared using optical pump-THz probe spectroscopy. Conductivities of P3HT polymers depend on the polymer length, ring orientation regularity and film morphology. © 2007 Optical Society of America.
Photoconductivity of organic semiconductor polymers studied by time-resolved THz-TDS
Esentürk, Okan; Heilweil, Edwin J. (null; 2007-12-01)
This study employs optical-pump terahertzprobe time-domain spectroscopy to measure relative carrier mobilities of semiconductor organic polymer films of poly-3-hexylthiophene (P3HT) and poly(2,5-bis(3-tetradecylthiophen-2-yi) thieno[3,2-b]thiophene) (PBTTT) polymers and these results directly correlate to recently reported electrical device mobility measurements.. An approximately four-fold increase in mobility of P3HT is observed with molecular weight increase from c.a. 18 kD to 150 kD where the intrinsic ...
Vacuum-processed polyethylene as a dielectric for low operating voltage organic field effect transistors
Kanbur, Yasin; Irimia-Vladu, Mihai; Glowacki, Eric D.; Voss, Gundula; Baumgartner, Melanie; Schwabegger, Guenther; Leonat, Lucia; Ullah, Mujeeb; Sarica, Hizir; ERTEN ELA, ŞULE; Schwoediauer, Reinhard; Sitter, Helmut; Kucukyavuz, Zuhal; Bauer, Siegfried; Sariciftci, Niyazi Serdar (2012-05-01)
We report on the fabrication and performance of vacuum-processed organic field effect transistors utilizing evaporated low-density polyethylene (LD-PE) as a dielectric layer. With C-60 as the organic semiconductor, we demonstrate low operating voltage transistors with field effect mobilities in excess of 4 cm(2)/Vs. Devices with pentacene showed a mobility of 0.16 cm(2)/Vs. Devices using tyrian Purple as semiconductor show low-voltage ambipolar operation with equal electron and hole mobilities of similar to...
Magnetohydrodynamic flow imaging of ionic solutions using electrical current injection and MR phase measurements
Eroglu, Hasan H.; Sadighi, Mehdi; Eyüboğlu, Behçet Murat (Elsevier BV, 2019-06-01)
In this study, a method is proposed to image magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of ionic solutions, which is caused by externally injected electrical current to an imaging media, during MRI scans. A multi-physics (MP) model is created by using the electrical current, laminar flow, and MR equations. The conventional spoiled gradient echo MRI pulse sequence with bipolar flow encoding gradients is utilized to encode the MHD flow. Using the MP model and the MRI pulse sequence, relationship between the MHD flow rela...
Indium tin oxide nanoparticles as anode for light-emitting diodes
Çırpan, Ali (Wiley, 2006-02-15)
Thin films of indium tin oxide (ITO) nanoparticles have been investigated as anode materials for polymer light-emitting diodes. A luminance efficiency (0.13 cd/ A), higher than that (0.09 cd/A) obtained in a control devices fabricated on conventional commercial ITO anodes were found. The thin films were made by spin coating of a suspension followed by annealing. The ITO nartoparticle films have a stable sheet resistance of 200 ohm/sq, and an optical transmittance greater than 86% over the range of 400-1000 ...
