Recently magnetic fluctuations in the Maryland centrifugal experiment (MCX) have been measured by an azimuthal array of 16 probes in the edge region of the plasma. A detailed analysis indicates that there is primarily a convection of m = 2 fluctuations by the azimuthally rotating plasma. However, the frequency spectrum of this mode is broad and is almost of the same order as the frequency. Furthermore, bicoherence analysis indicates dominant nonlinear interaction between m = 2 and a low frequency m = 0 mode. We utilize a 2D MHD code to investigate the dynamics of the primary interchange instability. For very low sheared rotation there is a broad spectrum (in m) of unstable modes. However, as the sheared rotation is increased the high mode numbers become stabilized. We will present detailed comparisons of spatio-temporal dynamics of our simulations with the data from the magnetic probes.

Measurement of the centrality dependence of J/psi yields and observation of Z production in lead-lead collisions with the ATLAS detector at the LHC
Aad, G.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2011-03-14)
Using the ATLAS detector, a centrality-dependent suppression has been observed in the yield of J/psi mesons produced in the collisions of lead ions at the Large Hadron Collider. In a sample of minimum-bias lead-lead collisions at a nucleon-nucleon centre of mass energy root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 6.7 mu b(-1), J/psi mesons are reconstructed via their decays to mu(+)mu(-) pairs. The measured J/psi yield, normalized to the number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisio...
Measurement of charm production in antineutrino charged-current interactions
Onengut, G; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2004-12-01)
During the years 1994-1997, the emulsion target of the CHORUS detector was exposed to the wide-band neutrino beam of the CERN SPS collecting about 10(6) neutrino interactions. A measurement of (nu) over bar (mu)-induced charm production is performed by using the presence of a 5% (nu) over bar (mu) component in the nu(mu) beam. The measurement takes advantage of the capability to observe the decay topology in the emulsion. The analysis is based on a sample of charged-current interactions with at least one id...
Measurement of the high-mass Drell-Yan differential cross-section in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
Aad, G.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2013-10-01)
This Letter reports a measurement of the high-mass Drell-Yan differential cross-section in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the LHC. Based on an integrated luminosity of 4.9 fb(-1), the differential cross-section in the Z/gamma* -> e(+)e(-) channel is measured with the ATLAS detector as a function of the invariant mass, m(ee), in the range 116 < m(ee) < 1500 GeV, for a fiducial region in which both the electron and the positron have transverse momentum p(T) > 25 GeV and pseudo...
Measurements of D-0 production and of decay branching fractions in neutrino-nucleon scattering
Onengut, G; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2005-05-05)
During the years 1994-1997, the emulsion target of the CHORUS detector was exposed to the wide-band neutrino beam of the CERN SPS of 27 GeV average neutrino energy. In total about 100 000 charged-current neutrino interactions were located in the nuclear emulsion target and fully reconstructed. From this sample of events which was based on the data acquired by new automatic scanning systems, 1048 charged-current interactions with a Do in the final state were selected by a pattern recognition program and conf...
Measurement of upsilon production in 7 TeV pp collisions at ATLAS
Aad, G.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2013-03-04)
Using 1.8 fb(-1) of pp collisions at a center- of- mass energy of 7 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider, we present measurements of the production cross sections of Upsilon(1S,2S,3S) mesons. Upsilon mesons are reconstructed using the dimuon decay mode. Total production cross sections for p(T) < 70 GeV and in the rapidity interval vertical bar y(Upsilon)vertical bar < 2. 25 are measured to be, 8.01 +/- 0.02 +/- 0.36 +/- 0.31 nb, 2.05 +/- 0.01 +/- 0.12 +/- 0.08 nb, and 0.92 +/- 0.0...
